HRRH room question or two...

Morning All,

Just wondering what the room situation is at HRRH post op, I'm guessing it's shared rooms? Semi private? I ask because my med insurance covers private room , Tv/phone .My surgery is not funded by OHIP but rather Blue cross(Military) I am guessing though the Bariatric centre is prob allotted a certain block of rooms?

Lastly I just wanted to know if HRRH still does not offer WI FI and do the rooms offer AC? Do they have an issue with the use of cell phones? I really want to post to OH as soon as comfortable post op.

Hi there,

HRRH doesn't have a designated area for bariactric patients at their Finch hospital. I really wished I had been in with one of my surgery twins, we have become good friends through OH now, but the way hospitals run, they get one patient discharged, another goes in that bed, so rarely do barictric patients share a room. There are all types of rooms, private, semi and ward. Getting private doesn't always happen as there are only a few of them. Yes rooms have AC but its not adjustable in each room, my surgery was May 21st and it wasn't really hot outside, but my semi private was very stuffy and at times, warm. No, no wifi,

You can order a tv and phone service. I didn't bother, I downloaded movies to my ipad, used my own cell.

It won't be long for you now, your moving to Angus soon?

Take care

Annette

Thanks for the info!

This will be my first time staying overnight in a hospital so i'm full of questions and just a tad bit nervous.

Summer is shaping up nicely, we finally sold our home here in Kingston, were moving to Angus on the 31th July and my Patts is August 20, add to that most of Aug off on Summer leave and Surgery date of Sept 10th 2013 is turning out to be a great year indeed.

This might seem weird but  this is the first year in a long time where i'm excited about Christmas, I always dreaded the holidays being around family not being comfortable in my own sadly stretched skin!

Yup you can certainly use your cell phone and you can get WiFi downstairs in the seating/dining area near the Tim Horton's - just ask them for the password.  I brought a magazine and a book to read but in actuality, I didnt get through either of them since I was either resting or walking or playing Tetris with my IV stand in the bathroom    Its a bit snug in there!

I have been in hospital for 14 different surgeries, and have never EVER finished a book I had taken along, or even completed a magazine. Don't know why, but it's apparently very common to NOT surf, to NOT read, to NO****ch any movies.

Don't be surprised if you just don't feel like it.

And take every opportunity to get your butt up outta that bed and walk walk walk. It'll help with the gas.
