Surgery is a go! Dr Hagens office will have my surgery date later today!
Just wanted to share my good news with well to be honest the entire world :) I had my surgeons appointment yesterday June 12 at HRRH with Dr Hagen and he said I'm a perfect candidate, he had me sign the consent forms for surgery and gave me his card to call his office and get my surgery date. Turns out his secretary won't actually give me a date till he hands her the consent forms. Seems he does this every week with his patients and his secretary has to to remind him each time to get her the consent forms. Dr Hagen even managed to get me a on the spot appointment with Dr Glazer upstairs who also agreed I'm ready for surgery ASAP. So here I sit or in this case type waiting for the phone to ring today with my surgery date. I could not picture a happier day, It's been a almost 2 year uphill battle to this point getting approved for surgery(Being a member of the CF does have its downsides at times. Being in the Military full time they tend to think there co owners of your body :) Dr Hagen said it could be a matter of weeks not months for the surgery date from this point. He told me to go ahead and buy my Opti ASAP.
Sooo in your humble option what flavor of Opti should I buy? Is there much difference in taste at this point.
Thanks again to the OH community you have and hope will continue to be an invaluable source of information , support and sanity during the long wait.

Congrats!! Great news!! Dr Hagen is amazing, all our surgeons are to be honest. I know many people buy half vanilla and half chocolate opti. When I bought mine all they had was vanilla. I panicked, but have to say vanilla was gross, but, I added a scoup of real cocoa to it and it was amazing! for me vanilla made me gag, but cocoa added was all I drank for my three weeks. I am sure others here will give you there thoughts on what worked for them, that's the amazing thing about this forum, everyone helps each other out!!
How amazing is OH!
Congrats again, keep us posted on your date, be saving a spot here on the bench for you.

Thanks for the kind words Annette,
Couldn't help but notice your from Barrie ? I'm posted to Borden on July 31, we just bought a house in Angus but the wife will work in Barrie.
Is there a good support group in the area? The only thing i will miss leaving in Kingston is it's WLS support group. There amazing people and a great source of information and support.

I heard there is a great support group here in Barrie, I haven't been to one yet but plan on it . I will try to find the info on when they are and pass it along to you.
Way to go! that is exciting news indeed!!!!
The CF is such a pain for just about everything - don't know how you stand it! (my husband is PAT in Wainright for 6 months :( ) but glad you could make it through HRRH so fast after the time you have had working through kingston
As for the opti I hear people take both - vanilla is easier to flavor but chocolate you can add cocoa powder and make it ok? as for what i have seen on the boards some people like them both as is and some don't - personal pref i guess.
Looks forward to hearing when your surgery date is!
Thats AMAZING news! Congratulations doll!

Congrats! That is so exciting!!
I preferred the chocolate Opti personally. I did try flavouring the vanilla with extracts (orange, lemon and banana) and that wasn't too bad. I also tried the syrups you can get, but then it just tasted too aspertame for me.
I ended up adding bakers cocoa to my vanilla to make it taste like chocolate :)
