Thanks for posting this. I was going to post something similar. I've read a lot about each person having a set point. Am I to continue to lose and hope that I stop losing?  I've hit a normal BMI but don't think ill ever be satisfied with how I look due to the excess skin I have. I don't have my next appointment at TWH until July.

You don't mention how long ago you had your surgery, but I know I dropped the majority of my weight very quickly and had some skin issues (not horribly bad, but enough to make me very self conscious about some areas).  Now that I am several years out, I can tell you that my skin has tightened back up a bit.  I used very good moisturizers (body lotions with lots of shea butter, natural oils, etc.), but other than that, time and activity may help.  Hang in there!!! :)

I am 5' 7-3/4" tall and my original goal was 165 lbs.  I got down to that weight very quickly  and  I thought I would be happy there because it was the point I remembered being most comfortable prior to the health problems that made me gain the weight.  However, the more active I became, I actually dropped another twenty'ish pounds and maintained at 140-145 lbs for several years.  I would recommend using the BMI calculator... plug in your initial goal and see where it puts your BMI.  Then play with it a bit and see if you want to set a new goal.  Many of us initially set our goal at a higher weight and then adjust it as our bodies become healthier and we become more active.

Best wishes to you on your continued success!!

Thank you.  It hasn't been a perfect adventure, but it's great now!! As someone else stated above, your body has a natural point where you will feel 'right' at that weight.  For me, it seems to be between 140-145.  You have a long way to go yet, so just keep doing what you are doing and listen to your body.   Congratulations!!

Thanks for asking the question and thanks to those who answered.  I am 9 months post op and down 115lbs.  I am thinking that I too am near the end.  I am 5'6" and just hit 150.  I am aiming for 140 with the expectation tha I will regain some and hopefully some muscle will strengthen with my Greco membership.

I am 5' 9 and right now am 183, but I think i can get to a normal bmi of about 165.I will be happy with a "normal weight" instead of being in the "overweight" category, but it is sure nice to not be in the "obese range anymore! I have only hit one stall for 4 weeks in the beginning, but after that it still seems to be coming off steady.  I have extra skin problems too but I expected that, I am just hoping for a small chance that some of it with no stretch marks might still bounce back, but I am not holding my breath!  I am really happy to be in the 1's that is for sure, never thought I would see them again! Thanks for posting this I was also curious about this question!

Melissa!

I have never (not even at my highest weight) picked a goal "weight".

I do have one on my ticker because I wanted to keep track of my pounds shed.

My plan has always been to live in a size 10.  Not to squeeze into it but to comfortably be a 10.   I figure there is an 5-8 pound variance in sizes so this will give me the wiggle room I need on the bloated days.

When I hit my size goal, my weight will be what it is  :-)
