My Surgery Went Really Well!
Hi Sherri,
I'm glad my story was helpful. I think to get an angel you click on the "Angel List' sticky in green at the very top of the OH Ontario Message Board, and then click on the 1st post on the next page, and the follow Shelly's (Cuter-W-Curves) advice. I hope you can find an angel. I'm not quite ready to be one yet.
Jenn. :)
I loved your story, I am having surgery in 3 weeks. I am not worried about the pain, I am worried about getting in the protein and vitamins after wards. LOL I have had 6 surgeries in my life time, all lower abdominal, so I can imagine the pain will be different , but I kinda know what to expect, I think, LOL I am worried about getting in all the stuff after. How much water will I get in, and protein directly in the days after. I know how much we are supposed to have...hoping I can actually get it all in. But again thanks for sharing. I appreciated you sharing your story.
I think you can get in all the protein, vitamins, and water you need, you just have to drink every 15 minutes on the dot, all the time you're awake. I didn't wake up until 11:15am today (usually I'm up 7-8am), and I've gotten most of 2 protein shakes each made with a heaping scoop of protein powder (so, at least 56g of protein), some water, a B-12, and a crushed chewable Bariatric Advantage multivitamin (and the vitamins haven't made me feel sick at all).
I guess I need to stick to a schedule to get all the vitamins and minerals in at proper intervals, but it's still my first day home. I need to take another multi, the calcium citrate and some D3. As long as your urine isn't too dark and you pass that pinch test on the back of your hand, you'll know you're getting enough fluids.

Thank you for your kind words Arlene,
I'm still doing great and finding that if you keep drinking and/or eating something every 15 minutes, you can get in all the liquids and even 3 protein shakes you need daily. I do make concentrated protein shakes with one heaping scoop of protein (a level scoop has 28g in the brand I use), 1/3 of a cup of skim milk, and a lot of Da Vinci flavour syrup. Peppermint is best in the unflavoured powder I'm using.

Yay!! Glad your surgery went well and you've had minimal pain. Keep up the with schedule and you will be fine. It does eventually get easier, at 5 weeks out I don't feel like i am spending my whole day eating or drinking.
