My Journey So Far at 6 Years Out (Extremely Long and Wordy)

Can you imagine, I know I'm a newbie but I have never seen 688 views to a thread.
You should be very proud and hope you are.
I know it sounds cheesy but even though you are a vet, and even though vets are ALWAYS there for us, hope that you realize that us newbies will always be there for you vets as well.

Amazing!!

Thanks for 'keeping it real'.  As a pre-op it is important for me to understand the reality of this process.  It's posts like yours that really help me.  Thanks again.  Peggy

Hi Dawn

I'm another one who started off my research into WLS three and half years ago by reading your blog. It was so helpful in giving me a picture of what that first year post-op would be like. I remember how grateful I was for it.

And here I am a few months away from my 3 year anniversary and smack in the midlle of all the head issues you've described and I read your post and once again I am so grateful to you.

You are right, there is nothing more powerful than knowing you are not alone. And there is nothing more re-assuring than knowing that there is someone out there that despite having to struggle has been successful in so many ways!

Thank you Dawn.

Thank you Lorraine!  Your words mean far more to me than you will know.

If you'd like, please check out the Facebook group mentioned in my signature. Started only a few weeks ago - almost 200 members of long timers going through head and heart issues.  Alot of us in the same proverbial boat. All long timers may join!

Hi Dawn,

Thank you for taking the time to share your innermost joys and fears. We are all complex beings aren't we? I too struggle daily even at 9 months out mostly with my carb monster. He seems to hide around every corner waiting to pounce on me. I have to always keep him in check and moderation because once I start it is hard to stop. I know it will continue to be a lifelong challenge. I often talk (confess chatty cathy here too) with everyone I see while waiting at HRHH or the surgeons office. I always make it a point to tell them about this forum and the wonderful people they will meet here. I too started out by reading your journey. It helped me immensly. I am always shocked at how many people do not know of our fabulous little ontario forum. You are correct in saying that we have been given a wonderful gift. I believe that it is everyone's responsibility who has received this gift to pay it forward in any way they can.

I am not sure if you truly know how your sharing of information positively affects so many people. I respect and look up to you so much. Please do not ever leave us. Knowing that the challenge still remains so many years post op allows me to put it all in a better perspective. I have a better feeling of what to expect and feel stronger to face and conquor those challenges.

Thank you so much for sharing your story,

Wow.  Thanks for such truly heartwarming words.  I'm always here lurking and reading.   My posting depends on if I'm feeling useful (quite honestly we've had so many knowledgeable newer vets that have been really wonderful sharing with the newbies that I'm often not needed...) but I am ALWAYS reading.  Depending in my mood too - even in what I call my Gray days (tougher periods of handling my food issues) I am always here reading.  I think it's often just to renew my connection with who i am and who i want to be in WLS community.  I find that keeping in touch with the WLS community helps keep me grounded and focused (and  incapable of burying my head in the sand about my issues...).

I NEED this forum. It is my free therapy lol

Thanks again,
dawn
