I feel for you Heidi. Sometimes it really helps to just "vent" to a group of people who understand what you're going through. Hang in there!

 Thanks Karen,
it did help to vent and plant my back on my feet

 Hey Brenda,
I'm take deep breathes as I type this. I baked and cooked which help me to relax and shut the brain off but it's starting to come back. I'm having an ice coffee (black with splenda), and going to start letters to family members (the just in case letters). Did you do that before surgery? On you papers to fill out for surgery did they ask you if you had a living will and power of attorney? I already have mine done, have a while now, but it still made it all seem so real when asked if I had them.
Your support means so much to me. Thank you so much

I wrote letters to my family. It was hard and emotional to do, but it helped me feel prepared.

Have you considered starting a relationship with a psychologist? It is extremely helpful before and in the early months after surgery. Also, consider meditation. There are tons of free downloadable guided medidations available on itunes. They really do help.

 Thanks Flyingwoman,
Yes, the letters are emotional but I'm finding them helpful. Getting a lot off my chest, I'm better at wrten words then voicing them.

No I didn't write letters to my children and family "just in case".  And they never asked me at my appointment if I had a living will or power of attorney.

It sounds like you are on the right track with getting ready and I'm thrilled you have such a great husband to help out.

I'm excited for you and you will do great!!

Whoa, Heidi! Stop, stand back and take a  couple of deep breaths......again.....okay! I'm like you - very organized - a real list maker & I get stressed when my timeline or plans change. It's normal to feel stressed, so don't panic. Aside from all the practical things, like making sure that everything is ready for your trip to Toronto & all your vitamins and food and other supplies are bought & ready for you, you are also dealing with the emotional stress over this huge change you are making. You are having major surgery & that will stress anyone out!  Did you manage to find a reasonable hotel for your husband to stay at?  You're very lucky to have a supportive husband - that is terrific! Try to break your remaining tasks into small, manageable units so that you don't feel overwhelmed and remember that you don't have to do everything at once. Take a few breaks and just relax and do something enjoyable, even if it's just going for a walk or a swim or visiting with a good friend.  Try to slow it down just a bit - this is a wonderful lifestyle change and you will be in good hands during your surgery and you will be so happy afterwards!!!!!  Best of luck, Heidi!

 Hi Deb,
Thank you so much for your response. I just came in from a walk and it was nice. I've decided the only thing I'm doing today is writing a few letters. Mom was here on her lunch break and we talked about how we are both feeling and what we're thinnking it help at lot as well. Mom is my best friend, next to Hubby, and we share everything and I didn't think I should share my feeling about this with her but I'm so glad I did because she feels the same way as I do.
Yes, we found a great place to stay and it's awesome for Hubby
Again thank you so much Deb. I love all the support one can get on here it helps so, so much

Hugs!!     It always feels better to share our burdens.  It sounds like you are feeling more centred again.  Congrats.
