Severe Anxiety/Panic Attacks

Last night on the way to bed it hit me I go Tuesday for my lst appointment which is with the psych before I meet with surgeon. It also hit me that it's the first time for the following on Tuesday: 1) flying alone 2) going to an appointment alone 3) traveling within Toronto alone and along with the firsts I'm scared that after my bad experience with the SW appointment the samething will happen with the psych and Ed won't be there to help put it into the correct words what I am trying to expess to the psych. Therefore, either having my surgery delayed or worse yet being refused surgery, I am so freaking out. Heart is beating 500 miles an hour, feels like a what I would think a heart attack would feel like, pains going into my jaw and heavy breathing.
For the past 7 or 8 years I have been afraid to do anything or go anywhere without Ed. I am trying so hard to work through these attacks. Telling myself it will be ok, I'm a big a big girl I can do it . I keep running everything that I have to do at the airports of in my head, how to get to TWH (shouldn't worry taxi taking me) and where to go in TWH. I think I am going to drive myself insane. LOL

Give yourself plenty of time that day. I combat anxiety with preparation.  I'll print out maps, make a list, write down numbers, addresses, etc and then put them all in a binder.  That way if anything happens, I'll have everything I need.

I found that we build unnecessary anxiety for this process. That was one of the hardest parts for me personally, managing the stress of the unknown.

You are exavtly like me. That's what I was trying to explaining to the SW the trying to manage the stress of the unknown and she couldn't understand that. It was very frustrating for me.
Thank you for you advice I have already done exactly what you suggested. Like I said we are a lot alike. It's nice hearing someone else suffers the same way and has battled it.Thank you so much

Suffering from the same issues, I find that planning ahead really helps for me. As Johnathin said, mapping and making lists really help a lot. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Are you in the city over night?

I hear you about doing all these things without Ed, there was a time where I couldn't without my husband. I suffer from panic/aniety disorder. I know things can get overwhelming.

Just take your time, explain what and how you want. Don't get frustated with yourself if you have a hard time putting it into words. They aren't there to say you are crazy and to stop you from having the surgery.

I think if you have an eating disorder, purdging, or something, they may want to work with you more beforehand.

They just want to make sure you have no uncontroled issues that will hinder your process. You are like everyone else, we all have a history.

YOU WILL DO GREAT!!!
