freaking out a bit ... I'm type 2 Diabetic on insulin infections and Met .... I haven;t changed anything but for some reason I can't get my sugars under control like they were ... I'm so afraid that they will say no to my surgery and or delay things ... I had the orientation and NP appointments ... on the 9th I do the Nut Class .. Feb 17th the Dietian and SW .... has anyone else had this happen with their sugar levels and what did your centers say?   I'm going through TWH

Sorry not Diabetic, but have you contacted your GP or endo? You still have time to get things under control, at least another couple of months. They may refer you to their Endocrinologist prior to giving you the surgery date to get things under control. Have you had your AiC checked recently? If not have your GP order it and bring/send your results in when you go.

Good luck

 Thanks Leslie,
I had my A1C done 3 months ago and I have a requizition to have it done again next week. Patty the NP had mentioned I would probably see one of their endro's prior to opti to help me learn how to control my levels while on opti. I will call my endo here to get help with control now.

Again thank you,
Heidi

Hi Heidi

My A1C test was 9.4 when I started with WMC in Ottawa, I had to have another med added to get my numbers down, they like it around 8, I had to wait the 3 months to have another A1C test and this time it was 7.4 so all were happy, I would see your Dr. asap as not to delay your progress.

Best Wishes
Sue

Thank you for the information Sue. I'm so happy you got your A1C down. I was excited this morning when my BG was 5.3 now to keep it that way. My Hubby had reminded me my PCOS was acting up pretty bad and I have had the flu which both would made my levels go up. Maybe with the flu gone and my PCOS calmed down things should even out. Here's hoping.

Best Wishes
Heidi

Now I'm worried. My blood sugars have been higher than normal since November. I am due for bariatrics class and then hopefully opti. Will they stop the process. I was 6 .5 when I had my initial blood work but now it is probably an 8.

Diana, like other's told me contact your Dr and see what they suggest. Someone else on another site suggested I even call the Dietian at the center I'm going through for help.

Best of Luck

Heidi

I know I was diagnosed by my bariatric dr at the Windsor centre as type 1, who is also an endo. This caused me to have another appt with him instead of the normal 2. I should have been booked in for surgery class at the beginning of December, but this put me off. I don't see the dr. again until Feb 7 now at which time he will recheck the Ac test to see if the metformin has been working. It's not quite the same situation, but similar.

I was cleared for surgery and had my meeting with the surgeon. My blood work was done in the early summer and my readings were great. In the last two months they have been slightly higher. Some due to stress and some due to a lack of diligence during the holidays. I don't know whether I have to have another test or not. I go for my bariatric class soon and then opti.
