What to Expect at NP Appointment with TWH

Hi, I'm haveing my NP appointment with TWH, via telehealth, tomorrow I was just wondering what to expect? I had heard she would examine people if you go in person to see her, but what else happens? I know I shouldn't be nervious but I am. I know so much about the surgery, before, during and after from years of research but my mind seems to be a complete blank. I'm so scared that will happen tomorrow and she will say I can't continue on the journey or that it will be delayed.
I keep talking myself down from panic attacks.
If you can supply me iwth any information I would really appreciate it.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Heidi

Brenda, she will probably weigh you, do BP and what not.
Stop it you're not ugly. You're a beautiful person.
I understand totally the excitement and neriousness. We just have to keep telling ourselves everything will be fine.

Let me know how your appointments go.

Hi Heidi,

It went really well, the nurse wants some bloodwork done and an ECG, but that I wouldn't have to see her again.  She said if something was off with the test she would call me and I could go to my family doctor is I needed anything.

I wasn't sure what the SW's job was. lol  But it went well, he asked alot of general questions and past emotional problems I've had and how I overcame them.  How I feel I got this weight and how I feel this surgery will help me.

So I got a pass from both of them, the nurse will put the results from the tests in the file and pass it along.

I'm glad that things went well for you too.

Don't worry..everything will go fine.
The nurse does a health history..asks a bunch of questions about any symptoms or chronic conditions you currently have.  She will also ask what you know about the RNY procedure, how much weight you think you will realistically lose and possible complications.  Just read over the information you got in your orientation package and you should be absolutely fine.

I was nervous for each appointment, too, so its very normal to feel that way.

Thank you so much Sandy. I will read it over a few times today and just before the appointment.

Again thank you,
Heidi

It's a breeze, she does examine your stomach and checks your ankles for swelling if you are there in person, however she does a very thorough family history and finds out if there are any possible complications that you may require additional testing for.  Examples may be scopes, sleep apnea, heart conditions etc.  You'll be fine and good luck.
