hey there,

I live in the Sault and I have used Porter to fly to Toronto to go to TWH 3 times now, the 4th next week.  If you go to Porter's website they constantly have the 30% off, i've never booked for full price yet.  Their service is amazing, the airport is at the end of bathurst and TWH is down the road, a 45 or hour long walk if you're inclined.  The ferry is included with your flight and goes every 10 or 15 minutes from the island.  There is also a shuttle which takes you to North York which is right by union station if you choose to do it that way.  When I go i stay the Super 8 on spadina, bring in your paperwork from the hospital and you get the hospital rate of $79 a night whi*****ludes breakfast and it's quiet and clean.  Any other questions feel free to send me a message.

things are going great, moving along quickly now.  Did the nutrition class this week along with initial social work assessment.  Next Wednesday I have 2 more appts back to back, nutrition initial assessment and then psycho-social initial assessment.  So believe unless I have to revisit any of the previous appts the next in line is meet the surgeon.  I'm ramping up and preparing for that day.  You getting nervous about it yet?

Cool Porter Just put on 30% off if I book before midnight

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

I love Porter. Used it to fly from Ottawa to TO for a year. It does not cost anything for the Ferry. It is free, takes maybe 5 minutes and the Ferry just runs back and forth so at most about 15 min. You can take a taxi from the ferry or they have a free shuttle to the Royal York on Front then you can catch a taxi from there. Should not be too much.

Porter gives you a little snack pack at meal times as well as coffee/juice in the morning and lunch time on the offer same as well as beer or wine (all free). I would sign up for their Porter points as well as you can earn free trips after 7 flights. They have a really nice waiting area on Toronto island with free coffee, peanuts etc...

I'm not sure, but I think that the Soo qualifies for a travel grant.  If so, keep your flight receipts and bring a travel grant to Hema at TWH.  They are familiar with the process and will know what to do with it.  I bring one all the time.

Tracey recommended Motel 8 on 222 Spadina (China town) to us over a year ago and it is a great place to stay within walking distance to the hospital.

yes we can get the Northern Travel Grant.  Keep in mind though it does come at a snails pace.  I have now gone 3 times, first time in May for orientation and have only gotten one cheque back so far.  It is a simple process, you contact your doctor here for the paperwork, you fill in a small part and bring it to your appt at TWH, they fill in their part and then you mail it in and wait.  Yes if flying you do need to include proof of purchase, I have mailed in my itinerary that i printed from Porter each time and that was all they need.
