When you reply to a message, there is a little smiley face above where you type.  Click on it and it'll display many cute little emoticons - just click on one to use it.

Here's a "friendly reminder" one :

I realize that some people are very new to internet forums and may not know some of the "etiquette" that goes along with participating in these.  Just a couple of friendly "just so you know"'s:

 - typing in all CAPS is seen as yelling.  We know you're likely not intentionally yelling at us, but it's difficult to read.  Using caps and lower-case really helps to get your message across.

- typing using "text language" can be quite confusing for those of us who don't text.  If you want to be sure to get your message across, it may be better (although slower, I know!) to use full words.

Barb you probably have your editor set to Text.  Change it to HTML 1 and it will show you all the smileys

does anyone know how to make it so the righ side of the content in a post isn't cut off (almost seems like the box is two small for the info in it and i can't scroll right to see it.)
