Just wondering if you've had a VSG and have had any related problems? Also is your gallblader effected the same way as with a RNY?

No problems at all with my VSG, I love it!

As for the gall bladder, mine is just fine, but I think that any major weightloss with any surgery, Optifast or any other plan is hard on the gallbladder.

VSG on 07/29/08

Hello,

I had the VSG in July 2008 and have not looked back. Love the results and had absolutely no problems. Had mine in Michigan at the Barix Clinic and everything went like clock work.

I had my gall bladder out on May 17th this year....the surgeon told me it was due to the rapid weight loss that I had since weight loss surgery. I don't think everyone who had weight loss surgery will need their gall bladder out, but it is a definite cause.

Haven't had any problems with my VSG (October 2009). Besides daily acid reflux/heartburn for the first few months (some people experience, while others don't), it's been smooth sailing.

Not aware of any problems with my gallbladder, but I'm definitely sure I'd know if there were.

I'm in the process of hopefully getting a revision to a DS as I still have over 200lbs to lose and I my gallbladder and appendix are certainly on my mind. Not sure if they will be removed during surgery. In one respect I hate to think of them being removed, but in another it could save me going under again if they ever caused a problem down the road due to the weight loss.
