Having my surgery June 15 an went fir my PATTS last week. I asked the nurse about Heprin shots n she seemed not to know anything about them. Anyone who's had surgery at Humber did u need them? And can you pay by cash or credit card? How much?
Thanks,
Lilla

Hi Dee,
The appt with Dr Glaser went good. It's very quick, checks ur heart and asks you a whole bunch of questions about your health. I was with him a total of 15min n wait maybe 20mins to be called in. Good luck with your journey.

HI Lilla
I had to use heprin shots for 2 weeks.  They cost I think around $275.00. Dr Glazer will give you a prescription. I had to pick mine up at the Shoppers Drugmart at Jane and Finch.  Good luck. Barb

Thanks Barb, I guess I'll get the prescription after surgery. Do you inject them at the same time every day? Where? Does it hurt?
Thanks,
Lilla

Hi Lilla
No they dont hurt.. You alternate spots on your belly. The nurse will show you how to do it. I started taking them in the hospital. It was freaky at first giving myself needles, but you get over it fast. (or at least I did). Barb

You can pick them up from the drugstore in the building beside the hospital if you have some form of coverage they accept that as well.

Hi Lilla,  I had my surgery at HRRH and Dr. Glazer prescribed immohep for me(heprin) for 8 days after surgery  my insurance covered 80% of the cost at the pharmacy, I guess , depending on your situation and condition after surgery.  hope this helped
