Medial Thigh Lift - Dr. Silverman
Hi Tracey - yipes, you are scaring me, girl :)
Long healing time......we have a trip booked for Jamaica for Dec. 3rd - I was thinking on waiting til Jan. to have the surgery (soonest I can get is Oct. 18th - OR Oct. 5th and can't pick that date as my 30-year highschool reunion is on Oct. 8th) - but Dr. Silverman says planning the trip to Jamaica Dec. 3rd would be fine. I am still waffling - wondering if it is too risky,
Not sure, now, what to do :(

If he thinks that is long enough to heal before going on a trip then I'm sure it should be fine. One person I know went to a PS I'd never suggest to anyone and it took him close to 6 months to have the incisions close. Thankfully you are not going to him or I'd be telling you not to go there. Everyone on here that has used Silverman has been very pleased with his work as I am sure you will be as well. Just make sure you have cancellation insurance for your trip just in case for some reason you just don't feel up to it by then.
Hi Ruth,
I had a LBL done by Dr Silverman. I would highly recommend him to anyone! Not only is he very professional, but very amicable. He made me feel at ease and was always willing to talk to me about anything I had questions about. His staff is wonderful also! I wouldnt go anywhere else!
I love the outcome of my surgery! I feel soooo good now. I am so happy I had it done and am looking to have my arms and a breast lift done soon by him. I also want a thigh lift. He warned me it was the surgery that has the most healing complications. So I'm saving that surgery for my last one lol.
What hospital are you having the procedure done?

Hi Aurah - that is great to hear. Glad to know you are so happy, too, about the outcome. He did say there was a 40% complication rate re infections, etc., with the thigh lift. Still wondernig if I should play it safe, and rebook for Jan...... If I ran into complications, our trip is only 6.5 weeks from the surgery date.....
I am booked for Almonte Hospital - he performs surgery there 2x week and only 1x month at Queensway. Where did you have it done
Thanks for your info :)

Ruth - try the plastics board here on OH for advice on the trip. There are quite a few thigh lifts on there.
I'm going to Dr. N for boobs - and going to Hawaii mid-July. He is doing a scar revision at the same time. He suggested waiting until after my trip instead of doing it in June - so that I'm sure everything is all healed. It did take a good 4 weeks at least for my TT scars to heal really well. I'd be nervous about a 6 week turn around - if you were in your 20's....but the older we are, the slower we heal as well.
Also - the physiotherapist who's working with me and the scars said NO SUN for at least 6 months to a year on the scars on my arms...it makes scars worse. Are you going to be able to keep your thigh scars out of the sun in Jamaica?
Just some things to think about...

Hi Erica - thanks for the advice. I posted on the plastics board - so hopefully, some will respond.
Thanks for the advice about waiting, too. The more I think about it, I think i would be wise to wait til the New Year for the surgery.
Wow, no sun?! Nope, I won't be able to keep my thigh scars out of the sun - I know it's bad, but I do love my sun.......Jamaica sun at that :)
Given there is a 40% chance of infections, etc., I think a 6-week turnaround may be asking for problems and possible disappointment.
Good luck with the boobs! :)
and many thanks for responding.

hello from sunny alberta. I was looking through " obesity help " to get some info and reviews on Dr Howard Silverman in Ottawa. I have lost about 200 lbs and I am very close to my goal weight, would like to get a LBL and chest reconstruction done during the spring or summer of 2015, with thighs and arms to follow. Would you continued to recommend Dr. Silverman after 3 years or have you changed your mind. Was he expensive, I was hoping to do the LBL and the chest reconstruction for 15k to 20k. Did you end up doing your thighs with him? THANKYOU in advance for your reply.
Ruth, congrats on you upcoming surgery. When looking at my body preop I think the thigh and butt lift is what I will need in the future. Can you advise how much the thigh lift is costing you?
As for putting off surgery for Jamaica I would say do which every you want more. If it is Jamaica than you can put off surgery until Jan. if Surgery than either go to Jamacia in Nov. or put off until Jan.
Which ever you decided will be the perfect solution for you.
Good luck and I will be waiting for updates.

Thanks, Tata!
My hubby really doesn't want to postpone the trip - and I am really getting uptight about the 6.5-week turaround between surgery and trip = surgery will most likely be in Jan. now. I really don't want to end up in any trouble. Erica also mentioned about staying out of the sun - and that won't happen in Jamaica (unless the weather is as crappy as it was this past Dec. - one of the days we were there was the coldest day Jamaica has every seen!).
The surgery is not cheap - that is for sure. I am a tad surprised it is as much as it is, but oh well....we go to all this work to lose the weight and become healthy and happy - we also want to feel good about how we look, too!
Medial Thigh Lift, Hospital Fees, Anesthetist's Fees, Taxes = $10,000
next year will be the:
Posterior Buttock Lift, Hospital Fees, Anesthetist's Fees, Taxes = $9,000

The sun doesn't hurt the healing but can apparently REALLY affect the scar formation and it's ability to "whiten". I've heard that over and over on the plastics board and from my surgeon and the pysiotherapist working on my scar resolution.
I think if you can't wear capris in Jamaica the whole time, you should wait until after. As well - no swimming in public pools (especially in Jamaica where the standards might not be as rigorous as here in Canada****il your incisions are completely healed. I think at 6 weeks I still had a few tiny scabs in certain areas of my TT and arms. I'd bet is would be worse near the crotch of your thighs for healing.
If it were me, I'd postpone - as sucky as that is....
