Since I started optifast on Monday I am waking up every morning with headaches....I am thinking it might be caffeine withdrawl?or the lack of food?...

Did anyone else have this happen?

probably a combination of both. Take some tylenol. Those headaches will pass in a few more days.
Make sure you drink lots of water, too.

Are you just going off caffeine now, right before surgery?  Thunder Bay assessment centre says no caffeine for at least two months before surgery.  I find it very interesting to see the different rules for different hospitals.

I've been thinking that as well, not just with this thread but others. Someone had posted about adding instant coffee to optifast and I was thinking that I hoped it was decaf! In Hamilton they have the same criteria, no caffeine 2 months pre-op, just to be safe I had my last coffee on orientation day.

I had headaches too, in the first few days on optifast.  Tylenol and water is good advice; and just give it time.  Those headaches went away, and maybe it was the change in diet or caffeine-free life, but I haven't had any headaches since surgery.

You can do it!

I think headaches are common the first 3-4 days you are on optifast - its your bodies way of saying "what the heck are you doing to me". The good news is that after that most people tend to feel better.  I took tylenol and that seemed to help.
Sometimes the best support  you can get isn't all purple puddles and pink rainbows.

In some people headaches can be a sign of low B vitamin levels (I think particularly B6), so make sure you're getting your supplements and that may help as well.
