Beneprotein
I remember in my Gastric Bypass Class they made me take before surgery the nut. went on about Beneprotein so I bought a case of the stuff.
It's not like the other proteins you buy at the stores in giant bottles. It's a Resource Fiber most used by hospitals etc.
I can see why the nut. liked it so much. It's tasteless... for the most part. You notice a slight difference when you add it to Crystal Light or another sugar free drink. It makes it a little more transluscent rather than transparent. You can slightly tell it's different but not enough for it to bother you.
You can add it to food and never know it's there. So if you're having soup.. put a scoop in and it's added protein. Add it in milk or tea and it's barely there. Most foods you'd never tell at all. So it's a great way to add protein without noticing and a good thing to use in between your protein shake.
It's a bit pricey at $25.99 and gives you 6g per small scoop. Zero carbs and zero sugar and a good way to sneak in that protein without noticing.. I use it for the whole family too... they never know lol
You may be able to get it at a slightly lessened price if you buy it by the case. Especially if you have a good relationship with your pharacist. The pharmacy's cost is $105 per case of 6 cans. You could always ask if they'd add a case for you when they make their next order.. and toss them another $10 or $20 for the inconvenience.
Just thought I'd share another great product I found.
PS: Most pharmacies don't carry it and will have to order it for you. Mine here in Hamilton did. I heard a select few in Toronto do carry it however.

Yeah it's a good product to slip into stuff.
Almost all pharmacies won't carry it.. you'll have to ask for it by name.
Here's all the information everyone would need to give to the pharmacist to get them to order it....
Resource Beneprotein (sold by the same company that makes Benefiber) Nestle Nutrition
Instant Protein Powder
A Concentrated Source of High-Quality Whey Protein 227g
UPC: 0 43900 29170 3
Hopefully that should help anyone wanting to ask a pharmacy to order it for them.
My mother grabbed it for me before she went back to Cali. I'll have to call and ask her where she got it. I think she deals with the pharmacy in Ancaster Meadowlands (near where her old house used to be before she fled South). I'll let ya know :)
I'm planning to pick more up from www.well.ca next time. :)

My neighbour gave me about 1/2 a can left over from her RNY- it looked so, well, "white" and like it would turn pasty, that I have not tried it. Guess I will today :)

Yeah I don't think I'd try it alone as a shake. I think it's better to be sprinkled into food or milk shakes... where you're not going to notice it's there really.
I do the same thing with my ground up flax seeds.. I slip it into my sauces like spaghetti sauce and soups and my daughter never knows she's eating something good for her lol I've even snuck flax in her mac n cheese and told her it was seasoning.. she ate it all up. She can't even see the Beneprotein when it's in there.
