protein powder that dissolves with stirring

Hi everyone. I have a question. I'm looking for a good tasting protein powder that dissolves in milk or water with just spoon stirring. I tried my whey gourmet yesterday and had to use my magic bullet making it foamy and then the whole thing made me feel ill.  I just need a vanilla protein powder that instantly dissolves with stirring. At the moment I'm using ready to use shakes (Atkins) and it can get quite pricy. I am also finding that the whey gourmet I liked before is making me nauseus, just the smell gets to me. I'm hoping that will change as I'd like to use them up, but for the moment I just need the one instant dissolving powder. I don't go to the states so it needs to be one that I can find around here. Also, how do you get enough protein in? I've tried adding the flavorless protein powder to my oatmeal but it changed the texture to one where my spoon could stand up straight in it. Same problem with the cream soup. I do add skim milk powder to the things I can. I'm having a hard time getting in even close to 60 grams of protein. I do eat my protein first and I try and get some protein shake in during the day when I'm not eating but it's very hard to get it up where it should be. Tonight I'm going to try and scoop of flavorless protein powder in with a sugar free pudding cup and see how much of that I can get in. Thanks for any info you can share. Hugs, Ellie

Hi Ellie I get my protein products here http://www.supplementscanada.com/popeyes/product312.htmlall you need to do is just mix it with 1 cup of milk or water and shake it in the cup they give you, tastes great and they will also let you sample in the store before you buy.I love the peanut butter chocolate and strawberry, they have a large selection of flavors.I'm sure there is a location near you. Ellie, protein powder was'nt my thing,I got on to food fast! Have you tried milk-it packs 9gms a cup. Are you on purees or soft, cause then you can go for some chili, yum. Remember,as you can eat more, the protein becomes easier to get in.

Elli, when you mix your protein in the Magic Bullet just pulse it lightly a couple of times. Don't let it mix or you will get the foam. I know they tell us not to use straws but this is the only way I can drink my protein shakes. I leave the little bit of froth in the bottom of the cup. I couldn't stand the smell or taste of any protein for the first 3-4 weeks. I used a lot of milk and SF Instant breakfast at first along with yogurt and milk in my creamed soups. Linda

Hi Ellie, I am lactose intolerant so all of the whey protein I bought is going to waste. I found a good soy protein at Walmart. It is a natural flavour and allows me to use juice and fruit and a bit of water to make a good shake that isn't sweet or overpowering. It is called Naturade Soy Protein natural flavour. I still use the protein drinks in order to get my protein in each day. This has 24 gms of protein per serving. This doesn't get foamy like my whey protein  shakes did. Maggie B

Thanks everyone. Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I'm having a hard time getting on my computer right now. Just doesn't seem to interest me for some reason. I did find one solution. Sugar free puddings. It's about 3-4 grams of protein. If I add 1 scoop of plain protein powder (I use Protein+) and stir well, I even add a tbsp of skim milk powder. It's not too much to eat, it tastes good and it is now over 30 grams of protein! I've used Cozy Shak Tapioca so far and it's pretty good. Mixed well, and then I add a dash of cinnamon and a dash of brown sugar substitute. Best protein I've had yet! I also make sure I have yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and I do try and get a bit of protein shake in but I'm really not into them any more, probably as I did them for nearly 2 months before my surgery. I have a gag reflex to them now. I'm only a bit over 1 week out so I do have a ways to go before I can get to solid foods, but purees are beckoning me. I see Dr Starr Dec 12 and if all goes well, I'll be onto purees then. Hugs, Ellie
