I really can't afford to have this surgery, and then I really can't afford to not have it right. SO I'm putting away and in January I will have 7k for surgery in Mexico, the cost for VSG there. When I get home I won't have the support of a nutritionist, and counseling like what is offered through most WLS programs in our state. Any suggestions? I don't want to fail the sleeve with old habits.
I have been denied so many times I cant remember how many! Today my Doctors office is submitting yet again for pre authorization to Medicaid. I had to change surgeons to Dr. Ronnie Keith. I dont mind because I have only heard good about him. It just that I have a 3 hour drive to Norman to see him and for surgery. but I will do whatever I have to do to get this surgery so I can get healthy. Everyone please pray that the codes are right on the paperwork and that i get my pre authorization quickly.
Im a City of OKC employee, and Im covered by UHC health Ins. There is an exclusion on policy for weight loss surgery. Ins will pay for everything leading up to surgery, but not the surgery itself. Its open enrollment at this time and I was thinking about switching over to BCBS but Im not able to afford all the deductibles. Can this exclusion with UHC be appealed? When I called UHC, a rep told me that surgery wasnt covered but it all depends on how doctor "words" it.....(didnt quite get that one)
Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
Thanks in Advance
Dr. Nelson did my RNY on 7/23/13. I really like her. Her PA is also very nice. Her staff is not always as on it as I would like but that would also be Dr. Wheeler's staff. Nothing that would make me change surgeons at all just seem to be slow at times. She ensured that I was comfortable and had plenty of pain medication available. I would recommend her!
For the curious:
The cost of a thigh lift (including liposuction of the calves) is $7,200.00. That includes the facility, surgeon, anesthesia etc.
Good luck to all in your endeavors!
Has anyone had a revision done with Dr. Gorospe in Tulsa? How are you doing? I am going to his seminar tomorrow. I have a sleeve and I want to revise to a RNY.
Thanks.
You have done great! Did you have the VSG? Thanks for posting and sharing!
I had the sleeve surgery because I wanted to keep my pyloric valve and I didn't want to rearrange my guts:). I also didn't want the vigorous life long regime of vitamins. I was a patient of Dr. Stewart's in Denton. I'm at goal and happy with my choice. Good luck!
