I have my appointment with Dr. Broussard on Thursday, Aug 4, so I am staying in town for the support group that night too!

I can hardly wait!  It was a good thing for me a couple weeks ago when I went!

Thanks!  He's being wishy-washy now, so I hope he will stay on board with me.  It would be so much easier if we both do it.   By the way, I live in Lawton too!

Thanks Brittany!  I will keep in touch.  The maintenance on the band is one reason I've decided on the sleeve.   However, I heard thru a girl at work that our insurance won't pay for the sleeve, but she had her lapband last year, so hopefully that's changed.  I plan on calling next week and finding out.

I chose the sleeve because I had a LapBand placed in 2007 and lost about 84 pounds with that and then couldn't afford the maintenance so I had to stop getting it and gained 40 pounds back. The sleeve was the best option for me because my problem wasn't so much WHAT I was eating but how much I was eating. I had numerous issues with my band that I had to rely on slider foods (ones that will go through easily) because things were constantly getting stuck and I was vomiting almost daily. It was simply the best choice for me and my surgeon was more than supportive on my choice for a revision. The first week-10 days was absolute hell but it's honestly getting better and better and I really am so glad I did it. Good luck and keep in touch so I know how you're doing!

I can tell you that you have made a great decision...  I was sleeved by Dr. Broussard on January 13 and can honestly say it was the best decision that I have ever made...  I have lost a total of 136 lbs and am only 4 lbs from my original goal wt (215).  I can't begin to tell you how much this weightloss has done for my confidence and more importantly what it has done for me as a husband and father...  You will not regret your decision.  I wish you the best!  VPW

Don't be nervous! They would much rather you come back later than never. I have been told I don't know how many times that the best thing you can do is go back to them. That is what they are there for. So often, people fall off the bandwagon and want to hide from the Drs. I assure you this is the BEST thing you can do to get you on track. Your vitamins may be low in areas, but they will work with you in bringing those back up. Mine have fluctuated enough that they had to put me on prescriptions to get them back up.

I don't think he will be mad you were gone, but will be glad you are back!

Good luck to you!

All I know is that it is 2 weeks of nothing but 2 protein shakes and 2 protein bars a day, totalling 4 meals. I do not think it has phases, but could be wrong on that. You will want to wait until you talk to Dr. B, Chris or Steph for more information. In the mean time, I would do what I can to get back on track with removing carbs, eating slowly and drinking your water.

Best of luck to you!

hugs,
Angie

I ended up not being able to go.  Plus my husband has decided that now he wants to go with me, so he wanted me to wait for him.  We are going to sign up again and go, tho, either this coming week or the next.  He's really jumped on the bandwagon with me.  I would be awesome if we can do it together!   Can I ask why you chose the sleeve?   He wants the sleeve, and I am still kinda considering RNY, but not fully sure yet.   Thanks!  Hope you are feeling well!
