Topic: do you love your sleeve and/or dr.gorospe?
Hey folks!
I was here about 5yrs ago, thinking of starting this journey. Now, 3 babies later, I am ready to begin. I am 100% decided on the sleeve and my insurance will not cover it. So, cash pay i go. Let me know how you feel about your sleeves and if you have heard good and bad about dr.gorospe. Keeping it short for now, got to go chase kids, but want and would love your input : )

People in my support group rave about Dr. Sawan at OU Physicians. They said he does great work and is really awesome.
Topic: Plastic surgeons in OKC
Hi. I've drifted over from the DS boards. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good plastic surgeon in the OKC area.
Topic: You're Invited to NOLA!
Each day, those of us in the ObesityHelp.com Member Services Department receive phone calls from OH members and visitors who are seeking help in finding a bariatric or plastic surgeon. Sometimes, it is really easy to help the person on the other side of the phone. The person might have great insurance and knows exactly which surgery type they want, and everything falls into place. However, many times it isn't that easy. As a matter of fact, sometimes it is a heartbreaking struggle. There are so many people that call us in tears and who are desperate for help. They tell us about their mobility issues, their life-threatening co-morbidities, and sometimes they share about the losses they have endured in their life.
While all of the above is hard...sometimes, it gets even harder.
They might tell us they are under-insured or not insured at all. One of the reasons ObesityHelp.com decided to have an OH Event in New Orleans (NOLA) this year is because, since 2005, we have faced an increase in calls from that region. All of the calls have had a common theme: Medicaid and difficulties finding a surgeon to accept them as patients. The devastation of the Gulf Coast from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have had a direct impact on the lives of OH community members from this area. Even though it has been years since these storms occurred, the lives affected and the rebuilding efforts continue on.
We invite you to come to NOLA to join us for the FUN , as well as to embrace this community.
Our mutual solidarity is needed.

Topic: My Labs (finally)!
I finally got my lab results today. The doctor hasn't "read" them, but they gave me a copy of them. To my surprise, I'm within normal range on most everything except vitamin D (big surprise, NOT!) which was a 21.
I don't know what RDW-CV and RDW-SD are, but they are both high...
My B12 is high (1142) and they want me to cut back on my B12, but I don't know if I will or not. It doesn't become toxic in high doses and I would rather stay in that range than bottom out!
Pyridoxine (B6) is also high...
PTH Intact Irma was high (parathyroid analyzer) but that has to do with malabsorption, I'm sure.
Overall, I'm satisfied and will be working on getting my Vit D up!

Topic: Weight Wise
I still haven't got the results to my blood work that was done on Aug 4. I go back to see the dietician again on Tuesday, so if I don't hear by then I will ask her for a copy. I'm also going to the "lifewise" support group that night for people 1 year and grater post surgery.
