Topic: RE: Any RNY Revisions?
Hi, I cannot advise you on a revision to RNY, but I can tell you what I have experienced! I am not sure what negative responses you had on the revision board, sorry to hear that. I really dislike when people are negative and rude! I too am seeking a revision, but from RNY to DS. I had the RNY lap in 2000 and have had problems with hypoglycemia, weight gain and unable to take arthritis meds...etc. The RNY was not the best for ME...because of my problems, but if your insurance will cover the surgery, you have a surgeon *****commends it and you are prepared for the requirements of RNY, then you should go for it. Maybe the RNY can help with your acid reflux and other problems! Whatever you decide, I will be praying that it goes great and please keep us posted!

Topic: RE: STATE EMPLOYEE INSURANCE
It is sad, but true...no coverage for wls of any kind with Oklahoma Employee's health insurance. I inquired at one time as to why the client's they serve that receive medicaid are covered as medically necessary and yet the employees do not get the same benefit. I was told that to add wls on to the coverage was to expensive and the state of ok board that decides of employee's health coverage elected to not include in benefits....So basically they know it is needed and necessary..they choose not to allow it! So, unless they get the clue and change their coverage...Best wishes with your sister getting the help she needs!

I can keep water down and have been doing that but will try some protein shakes today if I can't eat real food today. The nausea seems to be going away so let's hope for real food today!

Brittany,
Sorry you are feeling nauseous, I know that is frustrating for you. I know you are taking it slow with the food & drink, hang in there, it will get better. Guess the bright side is, if you can't eat you lose weight, right :)
Don't get dehydrated. Are you able to keep protein shakes and water down? Those would be the best things if you are having trouble with solid food.
Get better!

Yay! So proud of you! I'm having a rough go with this gallbladder removal recovery so I haven't been eating or drinking. I'm really trying to make myself drink but it's hard when you're as nauseous as I've been. Hope everyone has a great week!

Topic: RE: calories, pre and post
My nutritionist says to not count calorie intake or anything like that. They want us to focus on 3 meals a day, no snacks and 64oz of water. I try to keep my calories around 650/day. I'm 3 months post op and I don't think I could get more than 800 calories in per day so 1200 seems like a lot

Okay it's a new week. Even with the trip to OKC and eating out for 3 days I lost a pound. You won't see it reflected on my signature because I never changed it to what I weigh now, too ashamed that I gained so much weight back. It will be a long, slow recovery for my scale to show some victory. Have a great week everyone, don't allow others issues to stop you from acheiving your goals. I am reminding myself, too, that I am only responsible for my own happiness, not for making others happy.

My fellow co worker is post surgery 4 wks now, how many calories should she be taking in ?? Her doctor's coordinator wont answer any calls or questions so she is looking for answers from vetern sleever.  I feel that 1000 to 1200 calories should be enough to keep out of the starvation mode.
