Hey girlie-glad to see you-sounds like you are doing great.
I'm mostly in lurk mode since OH added the facebook link-we talk about things here, bodliy functions and such, I don't necessarily care to share with friends and family. I know it's the interent and could be copied anyway, but I just really dislike the link.
The thing that made OH nice for me was it was just for people with an interest in WLS and what happens afterward-all the link business seemt so to have taken that away.

Yeah I don't want to be apart of any "surgeon" support group. I too am a little concerned about complications but so far everyone that has taken the "fantastic voyage" to Denton has had excellent outcomes and I have complete faith in him and the procedure. The rest is up to me. When I get scheduled I will totally let the Oklahoma forum know. Let's keep it rolling guys.

Like you I wanted the DS but didnt feel like I needed to travel out of state for it..what happens if I had a complication...anyway. I know about ds and my best friend is almost 2 yrs post op.
What I wouod like to do is start a post op support group that is not affilated with any surgeon. A group that talk openly and honestly but at the same time what is said in grouo stays in group.A group for all surgical and non surgicasl types also...open forum what we want to talk about we can...
Have a groupo of us meet and be a board with rulles and guidelines deawn up..if interested ...then lets do it!
Congrats on your decision!!!
If I can come down there to be with ya I will

Hi guys,
I am from Oklahoma and I am having WLS also, but I am having mine done in Texas because of insurance reasons. Also there isn't a doctor in Oklahoma who does the procedure I am having done. Yes I'm a DSer. I haven't gotten a date yet but it should be next month hopefully. I only have one appt with the psych left (March 1). After that they will submit to AETNA and the the wait begins. They keep telling me that AETNA responds pretty quickly. So I'm excited. It kind of hard for me to post questions on the Ok forum because there isn't anyone on this board that has had a DS by my surgeon so it is easier for me to post on the TX forum. BOOOOOOOOOOO . Anyway, some of us at the hospital that I work at are wanting to form a support group maybe we can add us all together. Just a thought. Anyway, I do lurk on here and can say that I am very proud of each and everyone of you. No matter what procedure you had done, we much rock the tool that we have been given.

I went my first support meeting last Thursday @ Weightwise in Edmond and even though I didnt have much to say it was a very positive experience. It was nice to meet everyone and listen to your experiences. I am 8lbs away from goal for sugery and go back to Dr B. in 2 weeks for a follow up and hopefully set a sugery date. Wish me luck!

I know it was very harsh but her intentions are good. She is the doctor who's going to help me get pregnant, so she just wants us to have the best chance we can. But it wouldn't have killed her for a little excitement!

yikes!
it just frustrates me how some of us fight to have a normal life after wls..and no matter how hard we try it doesnt happen.
WHY don't surgeons tell us these things can happen?
And your surgeon needs a swift kick in his asss for being so insenitive this is nor a race but a journey some lose faster than others...
I have a dear friend who had wls in 2001 and she just got to goal last year..only had 150 to lose...
