Topic: RE: Cash Pay Fears
Dr. B was also my surgeon and I was cash pay for my sleeve. I was released from the hospital the morning after surgery and I was stupid and didn't listen to Dr. B about how often I needed to be drinking water. I got behind on my fluids and had to be readmitted to the hospital 8 hours later due to dehydration. For my second visit to the hospital my insurance did cover my stay, all that had to be paid was the deductible.

Topic: Cash Pay Fears

Since my insurance company wont cover the gastric sleeve, I am prepared to do cash pay. But my biggest fear is that if I have a complication or need additoinal medical attention over time that my insurance company wont cover those situations either....I am afraid I will go in debt if something happens.

Does anyone have any advice? Or any info to calm my fears??

Thank you all very much for your supportive comments.

I'm going to see my surgeon for my consult/pre-op testing this Wednesday. I'm getting nervous and excited, and did I mention nervous?

There's so much to learn, and I want to do this right. I can tell I'm going to be spending a lot of time reading here on these forums for information and support. I'm glad you're all here. :)

Bonnie works 11 to 5 Thursday, so she won't be able to take me. And I don't know about the trolley and pelivan isn't open today so I'll have to call them tomorrow and see what we can figure out.  They have changed so much of the trolley's routes and where they can and can't go now it's not even funny, the drivers don't even like it now.

It's this Thursday @ 5pm. I'd come get you but I'll already be late as it is. Can the trolley get you within walking distance to the hospital? Could Bonnie take you?

I was wondering when our next group meeting was too. Hopefully I'll be able to get there since the Trolley can no longer go to the hospital.

Topic: For the Post-Ops....
Ok, we have all done it... it has happened and we have dealt.... well, most of us have dealt. What am I talking about? The dreaded concept of reverting to old habits. Sure, we can't eat as much as we used to... sure, we "know" what we should be eating, how much of it and all that blah. We know we should exercise daily and eat low carb- high protein... we know. Its like telling an overweight person how to eat properly... they know. Knowing isn't the problem. So, here I am wondering how in the world I am going to break these darned bad habits for good. Yes, I am sensible. I know what the ramifications of my actions will be. I will gain weight. I will be unhappy. I know these things. But seriously, how many times have we thought about going to a support meeting and then realized that our schedules won't permit that? So, has anyone else had these issues? Has anyone really considered how to curb the bad habits years after WLS? We are talking over two years and all of a sudden "blam" bad habits come walking through the door... What do you do when you don't have the time to go to support meetings? What do you do when you need guidance in your diet? And please, spare me the "go talk to the nutritionalist" answer... we have all been... and paid... a couple times... for the same piece of paper and lecture on eating protein first, veggies second, and NO CARBS. Suggestions? Advice? Comments?

See that's where we differ. I believe in telling people about complications but I also believe. I see lots of "common" procedure go hella wrong in the hospital and I see the most complicated procedures go swimmingly. I have never been a 1/2 empty type of chick.  As far as donuts are concerned..... consider it done. I may even send you a pic of me doing it LOL

Can't meet you Tuesday but I'm off today.  Is there anyway I could bring this stuff out to you today?  I have Handy Andy coming by at 0900 (estimate on fan installation), tax guy after that, and swimming at 3:00.  Maybe I can get them to Leah at the hospital to get to you.
