Me, oh my. Well, I've had my ups and downs too. Most of it was depression and being on the wrong med. Pristiq has made life so much better. Happy pills are a good thing!
Last I posted I was in the 255 range. I am 256 today. I had gained back about 8 pounds but I have worked most of the off through exercise on the elliptical. I do most of an hour on it every day. You want a good, non-impact workout this thing is amazing! I could only take about 10 minutes at first but now I'm up to almost an hour. Not too bad for less than 3 weeks effort!
So where was I? Well, I was just about 5 pounds from being the Michelin Man. My blood type was Ragu. I was so sedentary that I had tree sloths calling me a lazy a$$. 448.5 was my highest weight. I lost 52 prior to surgery. Since surgery I have lost 140 more pounds. That was on 3/2/2009 (one week from Surgiversary).
I have energy. I can do things again. I can exercise and look for things to do to keep me active. I don't need a cane to walk any more. I'm not pre-diabetic. I have cholesterol levels that make cardiologists envious. In short, I am a healthy, slightly obese man that has discovered life.
And there you go...

I usually don't post very often, but I do lurk and read up on everyone...
So here we go:
Had a lap-sleeve in January 2009
I have lost 94 lbs and I am 3lbs under the docs' goal
I want to lose 10 more to be to my personal goal
I am down 7 jean sizes from beginning
I RUN!
I am running the 5k Memorial in April, I am running it! May be the last one to cross the line, but I will cross it running!
Oh, and that man kissing me in the pic is my world...Thanks to this surgery (and this board), I met him...Thanks to him (and GOD) I fell in love with him...Thanks to delta, I am going to see him in less than two days!
Hope everyone is doing well on your journey! :)

Ok, I'll do my turn in the roll call...
I had Open RNY on August 3rd, 2004. I've had several surgeries since, some for my complications, others not. I had a tummy tuck (done at the same time as a major hernia repair) in January 2006 and I had a breast reduction in August 2006. I'll be the first to say my doctor came a long ways with his TT procedure since mine and it's really not the greatest, but it's also not the worst I'm sure :) I also had 2 babies, both post-RNY. Krysten is 4 and Tyson is almost 17 mos old. I have lost over 160 lbs and I feel awesome! *MOST* of my vitamin deficiencies and my thyroid disorder are under control now. My diabetes, GERD, and high blood pressure are gone, as is the majority of my joint pain. I'd love to say that my asthma is gone, but no such luck on that one. I have gone from a size 24/26 to a size 6 (sometimes even a size 4). Thank you so much, Dr Warnock! I am not the same person I was before my WLS and for that, I am grateful!

Don't know exactly how a roll call works, but here goes...
Laparoscopic (sp?) sleeve on 10/21/09, reopened for bleeding 10/23/09. I've lost 66.5# with 37.5# to go. I may try to lose a few more after that, but I'll re-assess at that point. I'm 5'3/4" and 55 years old. I'm off all oral diabetes medicine and am looking to get off high blood pressure meds. My feet don't hurt every time I stand up. Yea! So far, my only negatives from the surgery are self-induced - if I eat too fast, it makes me nauseous. I've learned to control that pretty well. I chose sleeve, because it seemed right for my previous style of eating and so far it seems to be a good fit (pun intended). An exercise routine is more of a challenge.
I've worked out at the gym two days in a row. That is huge for me, the original couch potato. I had been working out three days/week, but have decided to up it because it makes me feel good. It turns out our local Y is a very happening place, so it's been fun to see a different set of people.
When I say couch potato, I'm exaggerating a little. Homebody would be more like it. I've always liked to sew, garden, read, play cards, cook and watch a little TV, especially the Olympics. That worked okay when I had an active job, but for the last 18 years, my rear has been tied to a desk chair during the day, so my weight got out of control.
I'm trying to get in shape to do some vacation hiking and check out some OK state parks if the weather will ever clear up! We're going on an active family vacation in June with our grown children and six grands (ages 5-13), so that will be a real test.
Patti, tell me about OWLO.

donuts??? where???
when researching wls I found out more people actually die from having their tonsils removed...TONSILS!!! That more people die in accidents in the their homes then in car crashes... that the chance of your dying in a car crash on the way to the hospital is greater than dying in the or...a lot of facts that are mind boggling...
The thing about getting mature is you are more aware if how close death is...as the old saying goes buyer beware...
just where are those donuts???

Topic: RE: Weight Wise post-op diet more restrictive?
I think before you ask about how strict one surgeons program is another..ask yourself this..are you ready for a lifestyle change that means less fat no sugar low carbs?
I had surgery with OWLO would not change that decision for anything...My program is about getting protein in watching carb fat and sugar intake which is the basic of all good wls programs.
WE OLD timers can tell you, one program cant be compared to another its all about the carbs and protein...
I have been to WW support group meetings and th difference between their program and OWLO is this..OWLO uses protein supplements and shakes to get the protein in after surgery and we are suppose to do a shake a day long term.Where as WW is about food....
I wont say one is better than the other...what I will say is..each surgery is a tool that can be abused...
good luck
