Hang in there!! Several of us got the VSG at around the same time and for all of us it seemed like after day 4 it was sooooo much better. Day 3 or 4 is usually the worst and then you just turn the corner and the only issues are feeling fatigued and the mental battle of an all liquid diet. I had buyers remorse for those first two weeks but it went away when I could eat mushys.

Topic: RE: Plastics...Who has had it? & what was your experience?
I want to have my first one done in October. I went for my first consultation with Dr. Pancel and have another one scheduled with Dr. Gonce. I want to check around with two or three before deciding.
Word to the wise....that appoint is very ummm....well.....horrifying! ha ha!! They give you this paper g-string and that is all you wear while the doctor inspects every bit of your flesh - tugging and pulling to see what needs to be lifted and where. So just head up.
The cost from Dr. Panchel was about $14,000 for tummy and inner thighs. Dr. Goonce is 6,000 for the tummy alone.

Topic: Just ran around Lake Hefner!! Thank you Dr. B!!!
Hey remember me? For the newer folks, I am the same 350 lb girl who thought she would never get her surgery date. I started the process in Jan 2008 and didn't get my sleeve until July 2nd. I had every roadblock you can imagine. Had knee surgery, then failed the heart stress test and had to have a heart cath because it looked like blockage, etc.
Fast forward...today I just finished running (RUNNING people!) around Lake Hefner. We are talking moving my body at a speed of 14 minutes a mile around 9.5 miles total with no walking or stopping!
I get "the nod" all the time from the athletic people. You know that nod that says I'm one of them. Its so weird because I never would have even imagined myself biking, running, belonging to a gym and all this stuff. I never even did that when I was young before I gained all the weight.
Well, I just had to share in case there are people like me that surfed this site looking for reassurance that they were doing the right thing. I wish I could have done this 15 years ago. It has so changed my life. I love it!!!
On April 25th I will be running a half marathon! Yep, me the once 350 lb girl. And the 2nd week in June I will be biking across the entire state of Oklahoma in one week. Biking 70 miles a day from Hugo to Joplin.
Life is good. -Amy

By day 10 I was pain free and feeling much better. By 4 weeks out I felt normal again.
I only took pain meds for the 1st 7 days and then I could manage without them.

I had my surgery by the same Doctor and I guess I was very lucky as I had not pain what so ever. I had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on Monday. I also had the VSG. I have been very lucky as I have had no problems with the surgery. The biggest problem I had was being hungry. They said it was head hunger, but I was just plain hungry. You will be so glad you had the surgery. I just wish I had done this years ago. I am 66 and have not felt this good in years. I have lost a total of 86 pounds and it was a year in February. I know a lot of people have lost a lot more weight than I have, but I think a lot of it has to do with my age. I also regret that I did not exercise enough at first, as I was working full time and just did not think that I had the time (BIG MISTAKE) I should have made the time. I have bought a treadmill now and walk at least 2 miles a day on it, and that is helping with the weight now. I just could not be anymore please. Our Doctor is great and he will help you anyway that he can. Good luck to you and know you will do great. If I can answer any question just let me know.
