Topic: RE: New and NEED Information
All I can tell you is this I had excess skin hanging fown to my knees and under medical advise I was given a tt and panni.
The biggest hurdle I see is getting insurance to pay for it. OMG its like a crime to getting it approved. IF you have medicare or medicaid...basically you can forget it unless your doctoe will give a referral. THERE are new skin holders or girdles that help hold the excess skin up away from the rest of your body.
What I did before surgery is I would buy kitchen towels and have them under the rolls of skin to help keep it dry and i also used nitasin powders. I know what you are going through! The skin when removed was 35 pounds by itself.
Like I said try Dr. Cynthia Nydick in Norman and see what she tells you. I will say this most cosmetic surgeons will not perform surgery on you if you have alot of scars in the abdomin area. The first surgeon I talked to wouldnt even "talk" when I told him I had 10 prior surgeries..They wont touch it cause of the scar tissue...Please let me know what you find out...

Thanks for the information! I know that they are reluctant to perform the surgery on someone who is still overweight but I can document medical necessity. I have severe arthritis in my lower spine in addition to a history of persistent problems under the skin fold caused by trapped moisture and inverse psoriasis. When I had my back surgery back in 2009 the neurosurgeon was very pro panni because it would help the spinal pain. I have been to the doctor a bizillion times with the rash/infection yuck stuff that everyone thinks is yeast. I have even had doctors biopsy it because they were going to find out what this stuff is..... It never ends and I am tired....and going down hill.
Topic: Hello everyone
Hi there all my fellow okies! Some of you I know some I don't but I wanted to stop by and say hello. My name is Sarah and I had rny in November 2008 at my heaviest I weighed 407lbs I have been stable in the 170lb range for over 2 years now and while I am usually happy with everything I hit these periods that last from a few hours to a few days where I experience the severe side effects of severe restriction. Some days it feels worse than it did right after surgery. Has anyone else had bouts like this at this far out?

KUDOS TO YOU!
I have a second cousin that did does ww and she has lost a lot of weight matter of fact she was going to do wls but now has decided agaisnt it.
She swears that by walking and making herself move the weight melts off and still has points left over.
I think medicaid is just wont pay for it. it seems that everyone I have heard that has tried gets turned down.
Just dont give up

Average is 12,000.00... if insurance pays.
I had rny insurance pacificare paid 100% even paid for my tt and all of the other surgeries I had to have plus the meds for MRSA which were not cheap.
Before you look for a surgeon make sure insurance will cover the procedure.some wont

I had a tt and a panni ...This is the deal no surgeon will preform a panni on an overweight person..due to if u gain weight u stretch the skin. Most cosmetic surgeons preform a panni its part of the list they just dot seem a need to advertise it causemost folks will want a tt.
Dr. Cynthis Nydick in Norman, Oklahoma is a general surgeon but has performed pannis with good results. try her...but again I dont see a surgeon doing it unless it a medical need IE constant infections and rashes and they have to be documented. Plus your insurance company might see it as cosmetic and then wont pay...

Okay when I speak to I am also speaking right back at ME!
I am going on five years post op. and my ride has been well helious!
Did not ever to get to goal but hey when u start where I did getting too 200 is one heck of a goal.
Any who..what do u do to get back on track..plan
I took and looked at pics of when I was at 200..OH WOW that was me????
I have gained uh hum 75 pounds since I got married in 2010. No one threatened me no body held a gun to my head I was happy so I cooked and fed my new hubby and son... Made home made bread cookies and cakes pies and oh my candy...
I tried months ago to get back on program promising myself I could do it.
And then I ate a cookie and said oh crap I failed again.
Today yes sweetie today I looked at ophotos of me and I fel this urge to slap myself to beat me up for gaining what I swore never to do.
I got into my fancy kitchen and startedclearing out the trash stuff..I am talking anything sugary andy thing chip or fried andy thing that was not on the program I had been on. My son cheered me on and when I got down instead of throwing it in the trash I went and donated it.
My plan is if its not here i cant eat it. I am going back to diary logging my food and making sure I eat like a normal person but without carbs...im talking the evil ones.
its up to you to stop u know the drilll you know how to get back on track. JUST DO IT...
and if you need a swift kick in the tushie I am available cause I know right now I could sure you a few good kicks and a couple of slaps...
Hugs sweetie

I am currently getting "back on track", as well. Between my medications/conditions and eating crappy, I managed to gain back a good chunk of weight, but I am now losing it again (thank the Lord). I still have a minimum of 20 lbs of loss to go, however, so I will share something that is working for me. I am food journaling. There are a number of free sites that you can use and are very helpful for it. I use Myfitnesspal.com. I should have been food journaling all along. It has really helped me to get back on track. I hope this helps you!

Mine was 100% covered by insurance (Tricare Prime). I am quite a ways out of surgery now though and I don't know what all stipulations have changed with my own insurance to get the surgery at this point. I wish you best of luck in getting your sleeve!
