Topic: RE: WeightWise Support Group Ideas??
Plastic surgeon info is always good.  Having patients that are a couple of years out come and share what its like down the road.   Maybe a session on exercise/sports ideas for how to get active.  I was never active and didn't really have a clue that running or biking was an option for me and if someone would have shown me early on that a big girl can do it, I might would have tried it sooner.

By the way, very cool that you are popping in here to find out from the OH peeps what would be of interest.

Hi!

I'm new to this site and think I'll find it very helpful in my journey.  I went to my first support group last night at WeightWise.  I went because it was mandatory, but I was really very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it!  It was nice to be in a room full of great people who understand exactly what I'm going though.  Lots of inspiring people there.  I've just finished my second month of my three-month pre-op program, and the time is going by so fast!   I am going to be sooooooooo ready for surgery.

I would like to see some guest speakers (nutritionists, exercise gurus, people who have maintained weight loss for a period of time, etc.) Sharing ideas about recipes, exercise, dealing with life stressors, etc. would be helpful. In fact, I think it would be fun to make at least one meeting a month something active with us all taking a twenty minute walk around the pond in the adjacent assisted living apartments. One meeting each month could be a recipe exchange.

David, my husband, found his 98 1/2 year old father dead at his home on Saturday. Between putting his mother in the nursing home three weeks ago and this, it's been a rough month at our house. We had tried to talk Johnny into moving in with us, but he defintely lived and died on his own terms, which were quite independent. I'm grateful David retired a couple of years ago and since then has had plenty of time to spend with his parents.

Anyway, comfort food has abounded and I'm late weighing in, but I'm still working my sleeve.

Kohl's has a lot of things on sale.  Yesterday I found a pair of dress slacks and a pair of capri's
both reduced to $8.40.

Ok. Last week I whined about an 8 lb gain and it wasn't the scales, but I think it was salt! Ate beef jerky for protein. DID NOT think about the sodium. I quit eating it and cranked my water up. So I'm back down to 270. Still not where I was, but I'm more careful now and reading labels, of even the stuff I think would be safe.

I refuse to change my signature to a higher weight. I'll change it again once I fall below 267 again. I'm just petty like that.

The 3-day liquid part of the diet is actually worse in your mind than it is in actuality...at least that was my experience.

I did the same thing as you and didn't tell any of my family and only a few friends until after the surgery.   You do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

Congrats on your approaching surgery date.  You'll sail thru it easily.

Hugs
Deb
