Topic: Amy had her turn, now it is my turn!

Hello all.    Many of you know my beautiful wife "DebtFree" aka Amy!   Amy had VSG almost two years ago in Edmond by Dr. Broussard and has lost 180+ pounds (Don't remember the exact number).  She is out of town this week riding from the Texas border to Joplin, MO (over 400 miles) on her bike.  I have sat on the couch eating cheetos way too long and now I'm ready to get started.  I saw Dr. B last week and the number scared me.  Just 10 pounds short of 300 pounds and he used the "morbidly obese" term.  Couldn't they make these terms more pallatable like type A, Type B, etc.?  :-)  I wasn't sure I was a candidate since I had a fundoplication surgery in 2008 and it was an open surgery.  But Dr. B told me my options and I left encouraged.  Wednesday I go to my dietary, exercise and psych appointments.  He also wants to do an EGD to look at my fundoplication wrap himself.  I've already started dieting so I can lose my presurgery weight.  No sense in putting it off any longer.  I'd love to hear from some of Amy's friends and make new ones of my own on here.  I know how much the blogs helped her and if I can just do 20% of what she has done, I'll be a huge success.

Well, Amy's number one fan better get some sleep now.  Busy day at work tomorrow.

I was/am several pounds away from my ultimate goal and I made the decision to go for it. Once the swelling is down and I can get back to the gym I will be there in no time and if not oh well, I think I look good now as is and so does my hubby!

good luck and I cant wait to see your results!

Welcome and good luck. I'm in Perry, so I go to a local meeting or down to WeightWise in Edmond.

I'm sending prayers your way for a smooth surgery, easy recovery, and magnificent loss.

Bring chapstick, a book(light reading), lotion, house shoes or those socks with the rubber stuff on the bottom so you don't slip.  They make you walk fairly soon after surgery.  Good luck.

Thanks!  Again - so happy for you!  I've had 2 consultations with 2 different docs. I am getting a 3rd from Dr. Suann (sp?) because my WLS doc really recommends him for OKC patients.  I'm trying to figure out how much more weight to lose because if I want to end up at 150 and I'm 168 now then maybe I should stop beating myself up on this last 18 lbs and let the surgery take care of it.  Either way I have it in my head that October will be my month.

Dear Friend, there is nothing much to bring beside your toiletries, the most important is to bring yourself with a very strong confident plus motivation, don't forget to bring LIPS BALM as it is very important too, when you are not allowed to drink, lips balm help to moistures your lips.Maybe you might need  medicated oil, just  incase you feel nausea.Remember the day of your surgery to take a good clean shower and hair wash. Wet tissues to wipe your body or face, talcum powder u need to apply on your back to prevent ictchness as you will be lying on bed and restricted movement.

Good luck...my prayer be with you

Do you still feel pretty tender? I must confess to being scared ****less of plastics. Keep us apprised of your recovery.

tender yes...not unbearable, I have spanks and under armour and binders and ace bandages to keep myself all cinched up so the swelling stays at a minimum.
