Topic: Support Group Meeting in Madill
Does anyone attend the monthly support group meetings in Madill?  I'm going to it for the first time this month and wondered if I would meet any of you there!

It didn't take as long as I thought it would. Originally, my insurance company approved me but with the stipulation that I go on the 6 month diet. But both Dr. Keith and my pcp wrote letters of medical necessity due to my high BMI and the diet requirement was waived.

I went to the seminar in late April, had my initial consult the first part of May, was approved with the diet requirement in June and it was waived a couple of weeks ago. I received my surgery date last week so all together it will be 4 months from beginning to surgery.

But I have to say that, from reading other posts on the forums, it can sometimes take many months or over a year.  I know I have been pretty lucky in getting it done this quickly. I give the credit to Jen and Cheslea in Dr. Keith's office.  They were really great about following up and staying on top of the insurance company.

Best of luck to you, too!

I haven't flown since my surgery...but now I'm not embarrassed to.   I've seen the look on people's faces when they see your size and don't want to sit beside you.

Even small things like walking around a table where others are sitting and not having to squeeze in.

That's the wonderful thing about WLS...all the little victories!!!!

Everything happens for a reason.

Hi everyone!  I've been on this website daily for the past couple of months and only today realized there is a special area for us Oklahomans! (Duh)  I've been reading the main forums but it's always nice to know there are some more local people to ask questions of.

My surgery is scheduled on Aug. 9th with Dr. Keith in Norman and I'm very excited/nervous!  Can't wait to take my spot on the loser's bench with the rest of you!

Good news... the doctor doesn't think I have diabetes.  But my last blood tests showed really high levels of iron.  I have to do a few more test in about a week or so.  Who knows what's going on...

Anyway, I play to get down to see Dr. B in August.  Hopefully he'll get me straightened out.  I still haven't made it down for my last post-op appointment.  I'm excited to see everyone at the office again :)

Amy,

Leave it up to you my surgery buddy to tell me what I needed to hear.  I should've read further down before I posted but alas I didn't.  I'm so freaked out about my weight and I know I shouldn't be.  I'm so happy with where I've come from but also scared that it is coming back on so fast.  I have begun working out (although not as regular as I should) and my eating is just plain out of control.  I do not eat much but man I seem to want all of my old comfort foods when I'm stressed out.  I have terrible eating habits again and have been having trouble getting on top of them.  I was tracking online and honestly I know I need to do it again.  I'm sure my fats and sugars are way out of proportion.  Girl,  you have always been my motivation and I thank you and all of you other wonderful people who have helped me along through this journey.

Love ya all.
