Topic: Home from Sleeve

I came home last night after my Sleeve on Wednesday.  Slept like a rock in my own bed.  Now taking things a day at a time.  Sip, sip, sip, sip - walk, walk, walk, walk.  I'll be very happy when I'm a week or so out and I am not so worried about whether I will develop a leak.  I'm a bit of a worrier so the "what if" thinking has been the hardest thing for me.  No severe pain, no vomitting, handling water ok.  Did more than my 64 oz. yesterday.  Not for the weak constitution.....but I did hack up a bunch of phlem this morning.  Is that normal?  Doing my breating excercises.  Dr. Broussard is great.  He had to work on me for four hours because I had a previous surgery which had left a lot of scar tissue and even a sterile abscess which he had to remove.   All my vitals were good at the hospital so I hope that with each day that goes by, the fear of a leak will diminish.  I have an incisional hernia from my previous surgery that Dr. B wil have to repair in 6 months or so.  He told me that that surgery will be really painful.  Kind of wish he hadn't told me that.  But, I just need to take one day at a time.

Thanks all for your support, kind words, and prayers.  I'm on the bench!

Amy,

I'm so glad to hear that Randy is on the bench!  I don't think Dr. B and Dr. Walton can be beat!  They're the best! I hope Randy has done well today.

Topic: RE: Any of you use Dr. Sawan for PS?
I can't tell you all how much my self-esteem improved with just the pani.  I felt like a whole new person.  I had had my apron for so long that I had permanent indentions to my thighs.  They aren't so bad now, but that's just because my thighs hang down to my knees!  LOL  I wouldn't mind having an intern do my surgery also...it's not like they're supervised.

I guess my problem with Sawan besides everything I already said was there was just no compassion.  The surgeon I saw in Dallas was just the opposite....and I may have to go back to him for insurance purposes, but like Dr. Walton said....the hospital there in Edmond is like home now  and I'd sure like to be there for my surgery.  I also feel like maybe Dr. Sawan will know how to work the insurance company and I don't think the clinic in Dallas really cares whether insurance pays or not.  That was the feeling I got there when I had my pani.  As a matter of fact, the morning that Dr. Pin came in to do my surgery he pointed out to me how fortunate I was to have an insurance company that actually payed.

I hope insurance comes through for us all!  It sure helps out!

You girls just don't be showing off your stuff!  LOL

Hugs,
Marsha

Topic: Elliptical machine for sale??
Does anyone know of someone selling an elliptical trainer or a treadmill in the OKC area?  I am going to dedicate myself to doing cardio before I head to work each day as soon as I have the equipment here.  My gym membership is unfortunately going unused.

Thanks!

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I have decided to push my insurance comapny really hard to get a panni covered.  I am seeing Sawan for a 2nd consultation on Monday, 8/2.  I can't say I am a real fan of Sawan's personality but hey, I am hiring him for his surgical skills not to pal around with.  If insurance refuses (please pray this is not the case) then I am going to see if I can volunteer to have a student (intern, 4th year student, resident) do my surgery for a drastically reduced cost.  I really don't care what my incision looks like.  Whatever I end up with is better than what I am dealing with now.

I feel your pain!! I have the same problem, but it was with chicken. I thought at first it was not chewing enough, but now just think chicken is the issue. If I had not known what was going on I would swear I was having a heart attack!!
I always have to tell myself......chew....chew.....chew!!!

Keep your powder dry.

Topic: Eating too fast!
CHEERIOS ALERT:  Ohhh emmmm geeee.  My first experience with eating too fast.  I thought I was going to die.  My chest hurt so bad, I was bent over in the bathroom.  Excrutiating pain - my 3 bites of soft scrambled eggs were backed up and couldn't go through.  I just made myself vomit a little to ease the pain, it worked but wasn't fun.  ADVICE:  They are RIGHT when they said to chew thoroughly and slowly, and take breaks inbetween bites.  I was in a hurry and wasn't paying attention and took my 3 bites within 5 minutes.  Not a good deal.  Just thought I'd share.  I'm fine now, but will not be eating anything else until dinner, and it will be soup.

I'm in the room waiting for them to wheel Randy back.  His surgery took a long time.  Poor Dr. B was wiped out because he had to work around alot of scar tissue and they were not able to take down the fundoplication (previous surgery) afterall.  But, that part is okay and it just means his pouch will be a tad bit bigger than the rest of us.  I know Dr. B. and Dr. Walton were the best surgeons around to handle a case like his.  I so appreciate Weight Wise!!!
