Hi Pam!

Glad to hear you made the long trip home ok.  I know many of us had moments of "buyers remorse" the first few weeks during moments when we dont feel back to normal yet. These will pass but, if you notice you are staying in a "funk" please call Dr Keiths office. Sometimes our surgery bottoms out our "feel good" hormones....so, please make that call if you are feeling down all the time!
Tastes do change after surgery...have you tried changing up your protein? Adding some flavors? Sugar free syrups? Sugar free pudding (1-2 T)?. Also, you may want to call Dr Keiths office and have some samples sent out to you of different flavors. I found I detested anything sweet after my surgery. Each of us are different and have to find something we like and can tolerate because protein is so important.
As far as your Gtube. Please contact Dr Keiths office. They need to know about this making you nauseated.
Stay in contact with Christy at Dr Keiths...she is a wonderful resource to help you through this tough adjustment period of the first month.
YOU CAN DO THIS. We are all here to help you.....Email me or call me if you need help with protein drink recipes ok?
Hang in there!

Topic: Back from surgery
Hi every one! I just wanted to say that I'm back home from surgery and doing ok.  For the first few days, and still to some extent, I've been doubting my sanity and wondering it this surgery was a good idea.  Little late now, though, right?

I'm stuggling with getting all my protein and liquids in. I've used the g-tube to push some extra protein/liquids in but it seems to make me nauseous. So now I don't want to use it.  I'm so tired of meal replacements I could cry!  Especially since the ones that tasted good pre-surgery dont' taste good now.

I know I'm just not feeling well and I'll get over it. I don't think it's anything other people haven't gone through. Just a little down and feeling sorry for myself!

Thanks for listening - I'll be better tomorrow!

Pam R.

Topic: RE: SCARED TO EAT?!?!
When I vomited my stomach would be very tender for several days & I would treat it gently. One thing I did was make beef or chicken soup with some veggies (no potatoes or rice), then eat it with a fork. A woman @ the WW support group said she strained it, drank the broth, then ate the meat & veggies. Anyway, that way the meat is plenty moist and easy to eat. I tended to get in trouble when I ate too fast or took bites that were too large. Once I learned to pace myself, everything was way better.

Congratulations on your surgery and good luck on your journey.

Topic: SCARED TO EAT?!?!
I am 4weeks post op and having some issues.  I have been vomiting alot lately...the other day, I had a hard boiled egg, lost that.  Had a few bites of shrimp, lost that.  The taste of it has definately turned me off - the eggy and fishy taste of these two items made my gag reflex go crazy.  I'm honestly scared to eat.  I also made some chicken salad, smelt it, gagged, and didn't want to eat it even after I fixed it.  What is wrong with me?!?!  I am sick of eating CHEESE.....if I can't eat the things I'm supposed to then what do I do?  UGH FRUSTRATED!!!!!

Topic: RE: Anyone use Dr. Broussard?
I completely agree with everyone above!  I just love Dr. B...he doesn't sugarcoat anything and expects you to follow his program to a T, and if you do not, he will let you know and get you back on track, respectfully, but suggestively enough to get you right on again.  He hasn't had to do that for me, but I know someone he has and she got right back in line!  LOL  He is very sweet and caring for his patients.  I can't wait to go back to my 6 week appt next week to show him I've lost almost 30lbs since my surgery date.  Everyone at WW is very encouraging and uplifting during your visits and I would recommend WW and Dr. Broussard to ANYONE I meet who is considering weight loss surgery.  Best of luck hun, you're making the right decision.  :)

Topic: frustrated newbie
I'm very frustrated with the process of getting everything done in order to get the approval of the insurance company. I've done everything except Psychological eval and Pulmanary test because I'm having a hard time finding a doc that will take my insurance. I have Unicare PFFS a medicare advantage plan. Its driving me absolutely crazy

Hi I'm Tanisha and I am in the process of getting all my tests and things done so I can submit it to insurance for approval. This process is long and annoying but I'm a trooper
