You ask is it worth it.......All I can say is YES!!!!!!!!!!!! I was 365 lbs at my heaveist I could n't do anything I was always tired. I couldnt shop any where I was so heavy I couldnt find jeans big enough to fit me...I have to wear scrubs because I am a nurse and I had to wear a very tight 5x..I couldnt take a bath, tie my shoes, walk a flight of stairs...ride a bike, i was a blob that was not able to enjoy my life... I am almost a year and a half  post op and I am down to 206 lbs, I can ride bikes with my kids, ride my horse without haveing to have any help getting up in the saddle, I walk at least one flight of stairs at work instead of rideing the elevater because I can..I can take a bath, I went from a 62 inch waist to a 38 inch waist...I wear a lose 1x scrubs and can wear size 18 jeans....I know longer have to shop at speciality stores i can wear things from walmart....I always figured I WOULD FAIL but i didnt and I do fight head hunger each and every day and I do still fill like i should have lost more wt by now but 160 lbs is nothing to be upset about....I am only 6 lbs from onederland and it is takeing me awhile to get there but I will and I will take as much time as I need......Its not how fast u get there its the climb to the top that is the best ride.....

Supposedly Starbucks has pt positions that have insurance benefits and they do cover WLS.

I am a military dependent, so my surgery was free and my breast reduction I am having Friday is also free. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to have my RNY.

I hope you can work things out and get some medical benefits to cover your WLS.

I work for Davita which has Cigna.  A friend of mine's wife worked for Home Depot which had insurance for both of them to receive WLS.  I changed jobs and insurance several times over the last 6 years and finally had surgery 5 weeks ago. Good luck!

Hijack!

I've been wondering about Randy's progress.  Yes, the slimies are yucky, but tell Randy small bites and slow eating eventually becomes second nature.  At least it did for me.

How much longer before your plastics?  Good luck and keep us updated.

Topic: Insurance coverage?!
Okay so this may seem crazy but I was so excited to have RNY only to find out my husbands insurance doesn't cover it! Who all has been approved via insurance in OKLAHOMA and what company do you work for and what insurance do you have... I am desperate enough to go work somewhere I know covers RNY just to be able to have the surgery!!  Thanks so much guys I really need this info!

Thanks for posting this.  My hubby is 3 weeks out tomorrow and having a hard time with eating also.  He has had two times now where he either ate too much/too fast and was extremely uncomfortable with the slimies (throwing up water type stuff).  He is struggling over what tastes good also.  I had him read this so he would know he wasn't alone.  Hang in there.  I promise it gets better.
