self pay for lap band
Hey Kristina,
You may have to appeal 1-3 times and possibly get approved. Don't give up. They are sometimes trained to deny on the first request no matter what.
Also I am a self pay, but we got an inheritance last fall and that is the only way I got mine done. However it is a tax write off. I wrote off the whole thing. I paid just before the end of the year and had my surgery the first week of Jan 2006.
I went to Dr. Floyd and he was much less than Dr. Keith and I feel he did an excellent job. The hospital has gotten slightly negative reviews on their post-op care but he knows about it and is dealing with them on stepping up to the plate on it. It should no longer be an issue. Everything upto and into surgery was wonderful. The nurses were just a little lazy or too busy the weekend I was in.
His financial manager is Tom and he will fight for you from what I hear. Even if you are self pay they include some things that would be billable to an insurance company seperately if you had insurance. So it is quite a deal. He fills you a few times included the first year and he can do your scope inhouse in his personal surgery suite
Hope I helped a little. Contact me anytime. for much much less $$ but only if you don't have insurance. He was going up on the price just after I paid at the New Year but still was at least $3,000 less than Dr. Keith.

Thank you so much for reasponding. Since I have posted I have talked to someone and she told me I couldnt appeal because it was a written exculsion. So I guess my only option is to self pay now. I have already had a consultation with Dr. Holsaeter last month and I really liked him, and I heard if he does the surgery at the edmond hospital its only 14,500, but thats only is your insurance requires that. So I called the office manager and asked her if I was self pay if he would do it there, she said she would talk to him on moday and let me know. Do you know how much all toghter Dr. Floyd charges? Thanks for all the info
