Diet?? Meat?? Blood Sugar??
Hi all, I am doing well but have a question about the diet that Dr. Floyd uses.
Is the diet to protect my new stomach, to help me lose weight or both? Any if I can tolerate a food not on my current diet (like red meat) is it ok to eat or will I mess something up?
I have a friend who is 3 years out from surg and STILL cant tolerate red meat. I already know that I can, because I tried a couple of bites of steak and it went down just fine (very small bites and I chewed the daylights out of it!)
I have been so lucky, no neausa (sp?) or vomiting and no "dumping" at all. I have felt hungry-it seems like as soon as my meal passes out of my stomach I am hungry again. Is that normal?
Also, I felt like hammered crap the other night, really really tired, so for kicks I checked my blood sugar (S.O. is diabetic) and it was only 70! Has this been a problem for anyone else? I ate some carbs and was able to pull it up into the 90's, and felt much better.
Thanks for all the help.
16 lbs down since 1-9-06
Well currently I am on the 8 week post op diet given to me by the nutritionist. It is mostly "soft sugar free" things like noodles, potatoes, soft meats (chicken, pork fish) oatmeal..you get the picture.
I am meeting with the nutritionist today at 2 pm, just to make sure I am on the right track.
We shall see!
