My wife and I are planning on using Dr. Gorospe as our surgeon. We are just being the journey. Can you tell me if his office handles request to insurance companies for approval and appeals? I really don't want to have to fight with my insurance company (Cigna POS) but if I do I want to have someone that will help me. Also did anyone us Dr. Beymer as your primary before seeing Dr. Gorospe? thanks Kendall

Kendall: Don't know how Cigna works but I had Aetna and they were a bugger-bear to work with. Denied me twice. Of course, Stacy with Dr. G's office submitted the paperwork each time and they requested additional info from my primary care physician and still denied me. I wound up attending the lifestyles class at Hillcrest for 3 months and was approved within 1 week after attending these classes. So, depending on how Cigna handles WLS you may want to look into that. If they require a 6-month Dr. supervised diet, prior weight loss history, etc., I recommend you go the Hillcrest Lifestyle classes for 3 months and you will get approved quicker. I had a friend who did this as well. When you have a 6-month Dr. Supervised program, most insist you weigh in often, have a specific diet prescribed by your dr., see a nutricianist & exercise specialist (everything has to be logged in the physician's notes) or they will deny you. Instead of me wasting 9 months and then finally getting approval I could have done what she did and attended the Hillcrest program and been approved in 3 months. So, check your policy, cross all your t's and dot all your eyes before submitting and hopefully they will be easier to get along with than Aetna was for me. Dr. Gorospe's office and staff are great. You will be happy you used them.
