Finding A Doctor
I used Dr. Floyd in Edmond. I had no problems. Dr. Floyd is a very caring and compassionate man. I also had FED BCBS. Also, Dr. Walton comes highly recommended. He was from Enid but has since moved to OKC and is with the Weight-Wise Bariatric Program.......they are running a bunch of commercials on tv right now.
If you have any questions you can email me and I would be happy to talk with you.

Hello! I also used Dr. Phillip Floyd, who was wonderful! My insurance is BCBS of OK, Federal also. My out of pocket expense was around $200 total, and they billed me for that. The total bill was almost $35,000 so I was thrilled to pay $200.00! Good luck to you! If you decide to use Dr. Floyd in Edmond, Kenny his Insurance specialist WILL get you approved. He is wonderful to deal with, very quick and very caring.
i was very happy with dr floyd as well, and kenny OMG i can not say enough good things about the man... dr floyd is a good surgeon, but didnt have much of a bed side manner at all... was very quiet and have only seen him one since the surgery and that was when i had to get my staples removed... and at 2 months out they informed me that i did nt need to return again unless i had complications... i didnt like that at all, and i didnt get very much info on diet and things of that nature from them either... but as far as a surgeon he is good... i live in sapulpa, so it is too far for me to drive to his meetings, so i am joining a group in the tulsa area and will most likely go to a different dr for any problems i may have...
Dr. Floyd...he's our man!! Ok, really I do think he is a good doc and a skilled surgeon. A little light on the bed side manner, but ya know, that's not what I look for in a doc.
I also wanted to give a great big "JOB WELL DONE" to the nursing/care staff at Edmond Memorial Hosptial! After the Doc is gone, the nurses are the ones *****ally take care of you and I simply can not say enough about the staff there-THEY ARE TERRIFFIC!!
Hope this helps!
I had lapband done 1/6/06 by Dr. Floyd. My follow-up was today. I really love him and kenny as well as Tom.
I had a great time with him at my bedside and in the appointments. He rubbed on my arm to soothe me before surgery and always listens.
However I disagree with the nursing care. At least on the 4th floor. I was told the bariatric wing was full of the RNY's so I was shipped out to a general post-op floor. The nurses took an hour to do anything. I am a patient person too. I had to call back for ice water after an hour. I didn't get breakfast the next day. It took an hour and calling back to get somebody to help to the bathroom the first time. I swear I am a PEACH of a patient. I don't complain while I'm there either cause I know the care could really get worse.
Dr. Floyd told me today if you have difficulty with the nurses to pick up your hospital room phone call his office have the answering service page him at any hour and he will chew on them till they snap to it. I feel better about future patients now.
Thanks - Beth M (SW OKC) - 302 now 282 two wks post-op
I have to agree with Beth.....Dr.Floyd and his staff are wonderful...and the fourth floor at Edmond Medical Center is atrocious(sp?).
the bariatric wing on the first floor took excellent care of me during my bypass surgery...but when i went back a year later for hernia repair and tummy tuck it was a completely different story. The fourth floor was the pitts..with the exception of one nurse(can't think of her name) and one nurse-aid Michael. I filed a written complaint and complained to patient services when they called to do a survey on my stay there. hopefully things will change.
good luck,
Audra
