After Gastric Bypass Surgery

I've been watching the Discovery Health channel and watching the Plastic Surgery Before & After program. I've been watching because I know that I will eventually need a total body lift. They usually give a price range of how much the procedure costs. I know my insurance will not cover the body lift. So I've been watching to see how much I'll be looking to spend. How can anyone afford it?? Guess most people don't have two cars and a house payment to deal with. As well as two teenage daughters. Can any of you give some insite of how the body lift surgery is paid for? How much does it generally cost? (I do understand that it will be different with each person because of body chemistry and complications.) If there is financing, who does the financing?

I was lucky & my (old) insurance paid for my abdominoplasty & breast reduction, which were done as 2 separate procedures. They were both medically necessary. It also depends on what your insurance will cover. Many offices do offer financing through various companies. I tried to get some other procedures covered through Cosmetic Fee Plan, but my credit really stunk at the time. Many people get home equity loans, credit cards or whatever they can to pay for it. You also get "discounts" for having things done together. Wait til you lose the weight, though. Your body may be ok for you. Or there may only be certain parts that really need surgery & go from there!!!

It's true your insurance may just pay for the surgery especially when it involves the abdomen area. Home equity loans have been the avenue I have heard the most about and seems to be the one many people take but I would definitely wait until your weight loss has leveled out. Oh and of course there is always the lottery! I watch those shows religiously but at the moment the thought of another surgery is the last thing on my mine. Take care Deb
