I am new at this and am very much considering Lap Band. I have never had surgery before (besides C-Section) and am pretty much a chicken. But...I also need to get healthy. New grandbaby, wonderful family and I want to be here to enjoy all of them. How risky is this surgery? Is it going to make me sick? How fast is recovery?

hi Danyne, i'm not familiar with the lap band procedure...i had RNY-open...i think my doctor has seminars...which would be a good idea if you're looking for information...you can call the office and find out when the next seminar is. here is his page on this site http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Philip+Floyd+lgp.html good luck, Audra 384/160/150

Hi this is Robbin. I am calling Dr. Keith's office on Monday to find out when another seminar is scheduled. Can you come up any time? Or down or over, don't know where your town is. I'll let you know asap.Robbin

Hi Danyne I am a LapBand patient of Dr Keith's. The surgery itself is on the low end of the risky scale, but any surgery has risks. The recovery went pretty easy, considering I had the flu...no fun there! I took 2 weeks off and enjoyed it...I got to hang out in my jammies for a few days and watch some daytime trash tv! You are welcome to check out my profile and pics. Good Luck Bonnie in Amarillo
