new to Oklahoma

Hi! I just moved to Oklahoma(Altus area) with my husband and two children. He is in the Air Force. I am interested in gastric by-pass surgery....can anyone enlighten me about local bariatric surgeons and ,also,if TRICARE PRIME will cover this surgery?? thanks a bunch!!

Welcome to Oklahoma! I am at the opposite side of Oklahoma in Claremore, just Northeast of Tulsa, OK. My surgeons (I'm still pre-op) are Dr. Luis Gorospe and Dr Joe Kirk who are in Tulsa, OK. I don't know if you would consider using a surgeon with that much travel involved, but if you would like to contact his office, his number is (918) 252-2800. Hey Kelly Dr. Warnock would be relatively close to you as he is in Wichita Falls, and I know he has a lot of military patients. He did my wls 8-22-02, and I have had great results. I agree with Virginia H. Dr. Ronnie Keith is a wonderful Dr. He did my surgery on 3/28/05. I have lost 62 lbs. I too have Tricare Prime and had no problem getting approved. Good luck!!!!! See you on the losing side!!!!!! Lyndia

Dr Pearce of Edmond did my surgery and Tricare Prime will pay if its medical reasons...also Dr. Warnock is doing my TT and he was able to get Tricare Prime to cover it as well! Donna B
