Considering surgery, questions

I've already contacted Dr. Pearce's office and will be attending a seminar on May 17th. I contacted my primary care physician and his nurse called me back (message on ans. machine) to tell me that my insurance company will require documentation of a supervised diet plan and that my records don't have that documentation. That really surprised me because I spoke with my Dr. in December about starting a popular online diet. I know that he knew I was on it...I even weighed in with his nurse. I started the diet in Jan and actually did good for 2 months...lost almost 20 lbs. But, unfortunately, like every other diet I've ever been on, I failed and have gained back my weight. I've also failed on a popular weight loss shake diet. But, every other diet I've been on has just been my own plan of just eating less. I can't document this and I'm concerned this will be a real stumbling block in trying to get my insurance carrier (Pacificare HMO) to approve this surgery. Anyone else successful in having Pacificare approve this surgery without Dr. supervised dieting?

You will HAVE to provide the diet documentation for Pacificare... If you have anything in the past that adds up to the 6 months they require it should work it did for me anyway... my diet documentation was from back i*****1995... good luck Lori

Why can't you document what you have done on your own? It is still a weight loss attempt. Leanne

Pacificare requires 6 months documented supervised diet to qualify for WLS...
