My insurance (HealthChoice) won't cover the Lap Band or any other WLS. Has anyone in Oklahoma City paid for the Lap Band surgery? If so, what was the cost? Feedback is appreciated!

I am not from Ok city, but from the pryor area. I paid for my surgery as my ins. would not. I had my surgery, open rny, done in LittleRock with DR. Gibbs. The total cost of my surgery was $15500.That included surgeon and hosp. I chose dr. gibbs after much research, he is one of the best in his field. He trains many others in the lap and open surgeries. Lap was considerably more, though I don't remember the exact cost, but I believe it was around $20,000. Good luck.

Patti, I was one of the lucky ones where my insurance paid for my RNY. However, I do know that Dr. Philip Floyd works out of Edmond Hospital and he does both the Lap Bands and the RNY. His office has a financing plan available if you have to private pay for the proceedures. Edmond Hospital has a bariatric wing with highly experienced nurses to care for WLS patients. I would definately recommend that you call his office and at least schedule an appointment to get to know Dr. Floyd. I think you will really like him as a person and a surgeon. The office phone number is 340-0511 they are very helpful and friendly. Sherry

Hi there. I don't have insurance and I am getting surgery done in Texas at Barix Clinic in Wylie. They give you names and numbers of loan companys that they work with but I ended up going through e-loan to get my $25,500 for surgery. Crystal

I'm from OK and I was self pay. I went to Little Rock, AR. Yes, a long drive but very well worth it!! Total cost at the time was $12,100. Currently, I believe the expense is around $12,600. That includes physician, hospital, testing, and anesthesia. Excellent phys too!
