Doing WLS is a big time surgery and selecting a great doctor is imperative!! Does anyone know how to research statistics of area doctors? How many procedures done, average hospital stays, etc. Only two physicians are listed for OKC and I know there are more who do these surgeries. Suggestions please!!

There are actually 43 listed, however some if not most are no longer doing the surgery do to the cost of malpractice insurance. Here's a link to the list... http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/showdocs.php?State=OK&t=1109030716 Best way to research them is to read members profiles and go to the surgeons seminars and ask a lot of question. Make sure they have a STRONG aftercare program!! Lot's of surgeons do surgery then offer no support afterwards. This is a lifetime change and you need lifetime aftercare!! Good luck with your journey!! Happy thoughts, Va 5' 3.5" 232/129/??? -103 pounds 13 days post-op TT

I would also ask my Primary Care Physician for his recommendations. Doctors and nurses are your best source for finding out which ones have a low complication rates.

absolutely ask every nurse you know and your PCP. Looking from the outside in isn't always what it appears.
