Cleaning out the closet?
Okay, how many of us recent ops are cleaning out our closets? This is a HUGE step for me.
I'll be honest. . I'm scared to get rid of my largest clothing sizes. I keep thinking "I'm just going to gain the weight back - just like I have EVERY OTHER TIME in my life."
I guess I have yet to realize the permanence in this surgery.
Well, I"m going to put on my bravest face and pull the clothes that are now too big OUT of my closet.
Have you??
I went through some anger issues when i was fighting my insurance for two years!! rofl! so i got rid of alot of stuff i fit in YEARS AND YEARS ago!! lol......but, ya, of the FEW things I even have, i too am finding it hard to get rid of the stuff. I actually need to bite the bullet and get me a new pair of britches!! all of the ones i have are terribly baggy!! lol....good luck leslie!!!
Well, I can tell you. . it was AMAZING! Of all the pre-children pants I owned, ALL fit me except one pair. And I bet they'll fit within 2 weeks (they were just barely too tight). I can wear clothes I havne't been able to wear since my sophomore year in college.
I ended up finding two large black trash bags full of clothes that were too big. I tried all of them on and marveled how much my body has changed. We went to Walmart last night. I wore a pair of navy slacks (that never fit - a gift that was too small) and a fitted white top. I must admit - it felt GOOD! And then I remember I am only one month out. There are more good times to come, and I love knowing that.
And the best part is. . . .(drumroll please). . . My boobs stick out further than my stomach!!!!! It felt GREAT! I've gone down two sizes in clothes.
Tracy, I am always amazed at how long you had to fight for your surgery. Two years is such a long time. I imagine you got very discouraged along the way, but it is fantastic that you persevered and finally got it approved. My path to this surgery was FAST and a WHIRLWIND. It was about six weeks from the conception of the idea (finding out my insurance would cover it) to the actual surgery. I am an instant gratification kind of person (in case you couldn't tell LOL), and I don't know that I would have kept my sanity after two whole years. Kudos to you!
How much have you lost now?
Hey Leslie,
I know what you mean, right now I have a huge pile of clothes sitting in the corner of my bedroom, and as I go through my closet looking for something to wear the pile just grows. I am just 2 days behind you, and It just amazes me not only by seeing my clothes bag off of me, but the reactions I get from family and friends everytime they see me.
As far as getting rid of the "too big" clothes, JUST DO IT. Keep one outfit that was your favorite, or something you wore a lot. Use this as a reminder of how far you have come. Get rid of the rest of it. I am a big believer of self fulfilling prophecy and manifesting your own reality. By getting rid of these big clothes you affirm to yourself, the world, and any higher power you choose to believe in that the weight is off and it is not coming back. If you hold on to the thought that it might come back, you are only allowing a window of opportunity for it to come back.
When I first began this journey, before I even went to the seminar, I knew this was what I wanted. I boght a tank top in a size Large, this was a demonstration of what I wanted to achieve. I put that shirt on yesterday, it still fits way to tight, but I put it on. Find yourself a goal and manifest it.

I have to laugh.... I am 11 months out I have lost 135 pounds 5 form goal and still have a few things in my closet. I have a ton of stuff on the floor of my bedroom that I need to get rid of. Infact I have stacks of clothes.
Our group has a clothing exchange every month. What a hoot to get new clothes each month... I have taken a lot of my stuff but have more left then I have taken....
Your journey was much like mine... Fast I am like you instant gratification.. I want it yesterday. That's what I got.
Good luck to you.
