Can anyone tell me what the pre-op preperation is right before surgery?
I am just wanting to know what the pre-op prep is beforehand I have yet to find this out. I am using Dr.Pearce in Edmond if anyone else has used him or Floyd I'm sure they do the same thing. I like to be prepared ahead so their are no shockers. Does anyone know of them prescribling anything for being scared/nervous? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

They usually put you on a liquid diet for a week or 2 before surgery and then a couple days before surgery you drink that stuff that cleans your gut out ( http://www.valu-rite.com/vr/magnesium-citrate.html ).For this surgery I took 2 doses of the stuff and after surgery I had no cramps.I would highly reccommend you do this before surgery as it will prevent having those terribly cramps after surgery. I have done it with surgeries and not done it with surgeries. So from experience I would do it.

When you get to the hospital the day of the surgery they will give you plenty of stuff to calm you down .....................LOL.
Dr. Pearce & Dr. Floyd do not generally require any pre op diet, other than nothing after midnight the day of your surgery.
You will need to verify this, of course, as it might depend on the patient & whether or not the procedure is done LAP.
Also, you will have your pre-op tests--at a minimum--chest x ray, pulmonary study, doppler ultrastound of legs & the normal blood work.
Once again, check with the office to see what the exact protocol is.

I have exceeded my goal!!!
Hi thats what I thought for some reason Becky but I also have heard of the other too Mark thats why I asked. I know I have read of other doctors doing it but I thought I had read of Floyd and Pearce not having any speacial pre-op prep but I did figure they would have you drink a clean out drink or something. Becky!
