Hello Everyone. I am excited that all my papers are done and on the way to the insurance. Now its the waiting game of waiting on approval. The Bariatrix Center of Texas is where I am going to have my surgery done when the approval comes through. I know in my heart it will happen for me. I went for my consultation in Texas in April and it has been a long 6 months of tests and waiting and tests and waiting. I am glad Dr. Thrift is doing my surgery he was so cool to talk to he seemed to understand that I needed to go into this with a smile on my face he was very bold and joking with me during the consultation and that makes me feel better about him because I need to be around people that know you have to laugh at the ups and downs of life. I love his bluntness! Everyone pray for me that the insurance will get on the ball and give me the approval asap! Doing this surgery is the BIG thing I am doing for myself in my life. I say that because everyone around me tells me I am a giver and I dont do for myself. Well, I figure its time I do something good for me, I am going to find myself under all this weight! I know I will always be the same person on the inside, but I want to know what I look like without all the padding...lol.... God bless you all!

I found your title so ironic b/c it so applies to my surgery. We were in the surgery holding area, and as I was being wheeled to surgery, my mom looked down at me, kissed my forehead and said that we'd soon find the "old" Leslie. . . . . It made me very emotional.

Leslie, Congrats on the surgery. Its wonderful that your doing this for your health. I am still waiting on insurance to approve me. I did find out on monday that they had all my papers scanned and it is up for review. The lady I was talking to on the phone printed them out and walked them down to review herself, she was very sweet, she came back and told me that she asked one of the men thats in that dept to look over it real quick to give me an idea if i needed anything else and he said no and it looked to him like there was NO reason for denial! I think she was as excited as I was. Its funny how people you dont know find themselves helping you because they know how important it is. I have lucked out and gotten to talk to her the last 3 or 4 times I have had to call them. Sometimes I feel like I am jumping through hoops for the insurance. it can be very fustrating! Where did you have your surgery done?

Sherrie, good luck with the approval! I fought two years with CIGNA HMO for the surgery and it was worth every hoop i had to jump through! it got awful frustrating at times and I did feel like a circus animal most of that time!! but, BOY!! I have my reward now thats for sure!! keep your chin up and do whatever you have to to get approved!!!! Im glad you have a doctor that you are comfy with!! Dr. H. Pearce Edmond, Ok.
