I'm Meg I live in OKC and have just started the process for getting ins. approval. Dr. Floyd will be my surgeon. I met with him today and feel very comfortable with my choice. About me... I'm 37, a newlywed (3 mos.), and a mom to 2 wonderful teenage boys who I homeschool. I've had weight problems since my late teens and throughout all these years I have tried everything under the sun to get this problem under control and nothing seems to work. I am a type II diabetic and heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure run heavily on both sides of my family. For me this really is about potentially saving my life. I have watched so many family members pass away because of these problems and fear that my father will be going soon. I want to be around long enough to enjoy retirement, grandkids, and just life in general! I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here. I've been lurking for a week or so and everyone seems so nice! Meg (5'2" 244 lbs.)

Hi Meg. Glad you introduced yourself. Dr. Floyd is also my doctor. I think he is great. I also had (notice I said had) type 2 diabetes. This surgery did save my life. I also had high blood pressure and high cholesteral too. Again, I said had. It is all gone! I know that I will still have to be careful about the diabetes but for now it is gone. That totally made this surgery worthwhile along with the added bonus of losing weight! You made a great decision in having this surgery to saved your life. Please join us at support group at Edmond hospital on the 4th Thursday of the month from 5:45 pm to 8 pm. Keep us updated with your pending surgery date. Again, welcome to the losers club! Leanne

Meg, Welcome to the Oklahoma Board!! I'm now almost 7 months post op. Had Lap RNY w/Dr. Keith in March. I blasted past his goal of 160 and am now at 149. I'm going to try to stop at 140. have my Tummy Tuck then reassess. I'm 5' 3.5" and started at 232. I too live in OKC but as big as the Metro is that's not saying much. A word of advice. Go to your support group meetings!! They can save your life and preserve your sanity...and if your hubby will go...take him...if he won't smack him in the head and drag his unconscious body there...so, when he wakes up he can get educated too!!! Good luck with your journey!! Va

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes! I would love to become involved with a support group. Thanks for the offers Leanne and Becky. I have family visiting from Texas this weekend so I don't know if I can jump in just yet, but if I can I will. Could you please let me know times/addresses just in case I can get to one. Va, I know what you mean about the husband. I don't quite think he's ready yet. He just came around to being O.K. with this a few days ago. On another note, I've noticed so many people on this site have really great looking profiles. How do I go about getting one done? I'm not that great with that sort of thing and would need some help. How do I get a pic of myself in my posts? It's nice having a face to go with the names. Meg

Hi Meg! I'm glad you stepped outta the woodwork! Dr. Floyd was also my surgeon. I have had no complaints with the care I've received! I'm not as far out as Leanne, but I've lost 32.8 pounds so far. I had no serious co-morbidities, but Lord knows it was only a matter of time before I developed them, so surgery was my "preventive measure". I look forward to getting to know you better! Please feel free to email me if you ever need to talk or have any questions! Heather P.S. Please do try to make the next meeting in Edmond! It's the fourth Thursday in October at 5:45! I'd love to meet you!
