I am looking for a doctor in Tulsa, that will accept Bariatric Surgery candidates for a person 56 years old. I would like to read feedback on a doc and the hospital he uses. What pre-surgery tests were done, and how long was the hospital stay? Is there anybody out there that can help me?

Try Surgical Associates - Dr. Kevin Fisher or Steven Katsis. I know Dr. Fisher has done surgery on someone over 60 and maybe older. The website is: www.surgassoc.com This tells when the informational meetings are, which you will need to attend first. After you do the information meeting, you need to gather your medical records and fill out their paperwork and send it to them. Someone will then call you for a consult with the doctor. You will have to have a Psychiatric Evaluation; Pulmonary Evaluation and a Heart workup BEFORE you get a surgery date. You will also have to attend at least one Support Group meeting. If you need additional, info, let me know. Cyndi Jackson Dr. Fisher / Lap / St. Francis 08/16/2004

Thanks for responding to my questions. I see where you live in Grove, OK. Actually, I live in Fort Smith, but I'm willing to travel to Tulsa. I'm 56, and Dr. Janes here in FS doesn't even want to talk to you, if you're over 50. My only choice is to go someplace else, and Little Rock is just too far. So what do you think is my first step? Should I contact their offices, and set up an appointment for consultation?? Or are there steps I should follow before making the initial appointment? Thanks for your help.

Phyllis, My aunt was going to have surgery with Dr. Katsis. She is about 58. She was unable to have the surgery because of heart problems that arose from the treadmill test. Overall she really liked him. Hope this helps, Dianna
