Guess What!?! I'm approved!
Called my insurance (UHC) today and the lady on the phone said, "I'm not medically qualified to give you the results" and I thought "uh-oh". I mean, what medical qualifications are necessary to read the screen???
Anyway, I asked if UHC had called the doctor's office yet and she said they had called at 9:00 this a.m. So I called Kenny at Dr. Pearce's office, he said they had approved me. He wants to see it in writing first, but UHC said they mailed the letter the 6th. This was all around 11:30.
I still have to get in with the pulmonologist, but once that's done I get my surgery date. I am cutting it close, because they said I couldn't drive for 10 days and I'm starting school on the 23rd.
If I'm delayed starting school, I think my prof will understand.
I am so glad. When I called my hubby he asked if I was ready and I said yeah, but I'm still a little scared. Anyone else have those last minute nerves? Also, what is involved in the pulmo study?
God Bless,
Teresa
Teresa,
Doing the Happy dance with you!!
Pulminology can be as little as blowing as hard as you can into a long hose connected to this huge machine or as much as that combined with a treadmill and have arterial blood gases drawn. Depends on the surgeon and the Pulminologist and your history.
Happy thoughts,

Congratulations Teresa!!!
UHC basically told me the same thing - well, they told me they couldn't tell me over the phone.. ARGH! Luckily, I got my letter that afternoon! I hope you get your date soon!!
Pulmonology will most likely be no sweat! *Just a tip: If you hate having blood drawn, ask them to numb your wrist/vein before they draw for the ABG (arterial blood gas). You won't feel a thing!

Congrats Teresa, I'm new to the forums, but I am at about the same place you are. I have had the PFT, and now I am waiting to see the pulmonologist to get the Okey dokey...so we can set a date. I am with Dr. Floyd and I want to say Kenny has done a marvelous job getting things together for me, and it seems he is the same way with everyone.
Good Luck and a speedy recovery,
Dennis
