Great Idea!!! You guys are the first (and only) to hear my weight other than my physicians. Starting weight 260. I would like to see 160 or even 150. I have United Healthcare and am waiting on their approval. I am hoping to get my surgery scheduled in the next 2 weeks I am 38 with 4 girls and a wonderful husband. I haven't seen below 230 in over 7 years. I usually get down to 240 and can't get below that. My girls are 11, 8, 6 and 3. I have been married for 15 years, and will make that 16 next month on the 17th. I have looked at the surgery for 1 1/2 years, but kept telling myself that I wasn't trying hard enough. Unfortunately, I even criticized people who had the surgery and categorized them as "lazy". Now don't hate me. I just was like some of you---uninformed! I have tried so many diets and had finally decided I would just be fat and 40 (and older hopefully). However, last thanksgiving, my mother at age 61, had to have 5 bypasses done to clear 9 obstructions. The severity of the blockage had the doctors saying it was a miracle that she had not had a heart attack. Her heart had been damaged by weightloss/gain and taking diet pills on top of the family history. I want to see my girls marry and I really want to hold grandkids someday. SOOOOO---I am having this surgery. Not to mention that my dad's side of the family has heart disease and my sister who is also MO has type 2 diabetes. I am a little scared because of the age of my kids and the fact that it is major surgery with all the accompanying risks. But I really feel like this is the time. I better go. I got online to check which hospital Rachel T was in so I could call and get an update. Have a great day guys, Teresa

Definately a terrific idea - and what a great way to get familiar with one another! I turned 30 in March . I have been married 11 years, and we have two boys 10 and 4. I had surgery June 3, 2002, and have lost about 190 lbs. I went from a tight 4X (I'm 5'6) to a 6/8. No complaints here! Next! Mendi

I feel great!!! My starting weight was 355, I'm at 263 now and soooo excited. I've gone from a tight 26/28 to a loose 22 and am comfortably in some size 18's.. I love my new life already and I'm only half way to my goal... I'd do this again in a heartbeat!!! Love ya'll Lori

Hi All, I am 43, married 23 years with 4 children, son 22, and daughters 20, 6 and 4. I will be going back to college in a couple of weeks, RSU. My surgery was 6-11-04 with a starting weight of 278 and I am currently down 35 lbs. So that puts me at 243. I am not losing as quickly as I had hoped, but then again I have never lost 35 lbs. in this short of time.

Hi, I'm 44, 5'3.5", starting weight 232, married for 21 years, one son 18 years old (he starts at OU in 2 weeks). I had surgery 3/2/04, Dr. Ronnie Keith. I've lost 69 pounds and 68 inches. I've gone from a size 24/26 to a loose 16. I'm determined I'm not going to buy any 14's I want to skip to 12's for my next purchases. Only regret I have is not being more proactive in my care those first weeks after surgery. I tried to tough out something that couldn't be toughed out. Va
