question about psych eval (pacificare insurance)

Hello. This is my first time to post. I saw my pcp today and got the referral to the surgeon (Dr. Floyd). Pacificare requires a psych eval prior to surgery. I contacted the two psychologists that the surgeon's office gave to me (Dr. Fishkin and Dr. Hyde). Dr. Hyde's office told me it would be a $100 charge PLUS my copay. Is this standard? Pacificare told me I should only pay $25.00 total for the copay. Does anyone else have any experience with the to get this surgery approved.

The extra $100 is probably for the psych report which most insurances won't pay.

I have pacificare, and i didn't have to pay extra for mine... but i didn't use either of the dr.'s you mentioned, I'm sorry I can't remember the guys name that i used, but he was really nice and located near sw 74th and walker... call pacificare and get some other names... I also wanted to use Dr. Floyd in the begining for surgery, but Pacificare would not allow Edmond hospital (which is the only hospital Dr. Floyd works at) so you might want to check that out too... I paid my co-pay PLUS the $90 for the psych report. I used Catherine Abbott off of Meridian and was pleased with how easy it was to talk to her.

I just got my psych eval scheduled with Dr. Keller, I have First Health, the lady in his office said I would just have to pay the co-pay. We will see.

An update. . Dr. Gene Hawkins takes pacificare and only charges the $25 copay. As does Dr. Fishkin. Dr. Hyde is the only one I found who ridiculously charges the extra $100
